FPL Clarification – The Checklist

There still seems to be some confusion amongst the Fantasy Premier League community regarding a number of elements associated with the changes implemented by the game this week.

To clarify matters, we’ve put together a list of points that has, this afternoon, been checked and confirmed by the FPL.

  • Transfers made this week are all free. Any points deducted from your total will be refunded to you once the Gameweek two deadline has passed.
  • Any Wildcards played in advance of Gameweek two will be returned to players once the Gameweek two deadline has passed.


  • The number of transfers you make in advance of Gameweek two’s deadline will be wiped and reset to zero once the deadline passed. This will mean that they will not count against you and become a factor should you be tied on points with a manager in your mini-league.


  • Price rises are frozen ahead of Gameweek two. Once the deadline has passed all transfer totals that are collected by players will be reset. Therefore, players will need to accrue further transfers in and transfers out next week in order to have their price rise or fall.


  • Gameweek one points will remain in the game and count towards the FPL overall points tallies. Mini-league admins can decide to reset their mini-leagues to start on Gameweek two should they wish. In the interest of those managers unable to log in and make changes prior to Gameweek one, Fantasy Football Scout will reset their mini-leagues accordingly.

    Hi all. Done some tweaking with my team and would be grateful of your feedback:

    Moses Laarson Nzog N Dyer Silva
    Torres Suarez Aguero

    Am tempted to swap Luiz for Bosingwa. Whats the general feeling on Bosingwa this season?

      luiz isnt playing? and aguero according to mancini is 2 to 3 weeks away from full fitness so he mightnt start.

          Hehe, he looked allright, but I am really not keen on the Liverpool midfield atm. Do not know for sure if he will play every week etc.

          Then again, between 7-9 there is not alot of players to choose from. Maybe go with a cheaper midfielder and upgrade somewhere else?

    Evening all,

    Does anybody know if you don't make any transfers this week, does your free transfer carry over in to next week? I put my initial selection together with week 2 in mind and making a double transfer week 3. I have e-mailed FPL regarding this but have not had a response yet.

    I have now made 3 changes: Given -> Hilario, Richards -> Baines and Malouda -> Cahill

    1. What do you think - good changes?
    2. Should I swap out Bosingwa for Warnock or another defender as I have Hilario in goal?

      Lampard + Malouda is a no-no IMO... I wouldn't go for either.

      Not sure about Holt either, and Zamora was taken off before Johnson in their first hame.

      Defence is decent though, but wouldn't have both Given and Hilario - one or the other.

      Agreed. Looks good on the surface, but there are no good alternatives at 4.5, he'll only play 2 or 3 games at the most and will necessitate a transfer, and meanwhile, Given still has two plum home games.

      If there were no teams with good fixtures I might have considered it, but this early on, with price rises and other things going on, the last thing you need is to transfer a goalie.

        If Alex or Bosingwa play regularly i could get them in as a natural replacement and get a cheap keeper.

          Cheap keeper, who? The most reliable keepers are at 5.0.

          The only way I'd see Hilario being useful is if you pencil in GW 4 for a wildcard, but that forces your hand, and you never know when you might need it later on for double gameweeks.

            Well he'll probably get WBA, NOR, sun and then for the gameweek after that Vorm would be ok (WBA at home).

            By this time, Ill probably be looking at wildcarding or I can make a shift to another 4.5m keeper (WBA, WOL etc).

              Mmm if you're willing to commit to making wholesale changes, but for me, those 3 nice gameweeks don't justify the move.

              Given has BLA WOL eve meanwhile, he should score more or less equally. It saves you a transfer, and you always have Begovic or Schwarzer to switch to.

      I think Kompany is easily a better options as to me he's a defender you will play every week, while Riise is an attacking threat I'd still feel more comfortable playing Kompany.

        Cheers for that.
        I don't see a huge amount of value in midfielders at the minute, hence this team.

        N'Zogbia will hopefully be a good route into Villa's favourable fixtures and I am hoping the same will apply to Osman - tho he is more of a risk.

        I also hope not to have to make a transfer between gameweeks 2 and 3... and with these players I shouldnt really have too!

        I think it'll be Torres (c) v WBA and Norwich.

      It looks great now, but soon enough, you might struggle. The Osman risk can only be good for so long, then there's the problem of fitting in a big hitting midfielder. VdV or Nani could explode, and you can't drop Silva looking at City's fixtures from GW 4 onwards.

      Defense likewise is tailored for the next few weeks but will be looking weak once Villa's fixtures tail off.

    One reason I keep messing with my team is that I am just not secure spending around 10 on Silva/Young/Nani etc. Am I the only one? Is it just because I leanred to love this game during the Lamps/Gerarrd/Ronaldo/Henry era, you knew you got returns then!

      Yeah, I'm pretty comfortable with my cheapies. I'm far from that when it comes to my bigger mids.

      I never thought I'd say this, but sometimes I miss Ronaldo! He made this game a hell of a lot easier.

      Still, these kind of uncertainties inevitably separate the wheat from the chaff in this game (or more precisely, the lucky from the unlucky!).
