The Upton Park casualty list seems to be clearing by the day with Dean Ashton the latest name to be lined up for a return. According to SportingLife, West Ham are planning to throw Ashton into a reserve game on Monday against Charlton, with a view to the striker returning to first team action on the Saturday when the Hammers face Spurs.
So it seems Ashton, a player who appeared on many Fantasy Managers’ pre-season shortlist, could yet prove a temptation, but perhaps only in Fantasy Premier League, where his value has fallen considerably. At 6.6 million he’s in the same price bracket as Kanu and Agbonlahor which definitely makes him worth a look once he’s proven his fitness. In other games, he’s perhaps not such good value. He’s priced at 6.0 million in Fantasy League powered games, not that appealling when you consider the likes of McCarthy and Darren Bent are available for 6.1 and 6.3 respectively. In You The Manager meanwhile he’s valued at 6.5 million, a price he shares with the likes of Johnson and Martins, while Lita, McCarthy and Doyle are available for considerably less.
