Arsenal began their Austrian tour by strolling past Genclerbirligi with goals from Walcott and a brace from Van Persie. They were the stand out performers on the night along with Adebayor, although Eduardo showed some glimpses of his potential when he arrived with 20 minutes remaining.

Reading came agonisingly close to reaching the Final of the Peace Cup in Korea. They won the game 1-0 on the night with a header from Gunnarsson but could not grab the second goal they needed to progress to face Bolton. Seol made a notable and belated appearance in front of the Korean crowd in the second-half. Kitson and Long were preferred up front in a 4-4-2.
