Wenger is making some interesting noises in the light of Van Persie’s injury, suggesting that he is about to throw Theo Walcott the opportunity to fill the Dutchman’s boots. It is widely expected that Eduardo would be given the opportunity to line up alongside Adebayor as he did against Bolton at the weekend. However, Walcott came off the bench with some impact, and Wenger has indicated more opportunities are about to come his way. When questioned on Theo’s credentials to fill the striking role Wenger remarked:
“Walcott will get a chance in this position because I feel now he is ready to play through the middle. We are in October and Theo has already played a part. He made a big impact last time he came on and you know things change quickly. In football you have always to be ready, and it’s a good opportunity for him as well, not only for Eduardo. If he is strong, he will play.”
That news will be significant for players of the Fantasy League ltd games in which Walcott is listed as a midfielder and is priced at a modest 3.9 million. Elsewhere, you’ll find him classified as a Forward which significantly reduces his appeal, unless of course he shows the form that will guarantee him a run of games in Wenger’s free-scoring side.
