Speculation is growing that Shaun Wright-Phillips is about to be subject of a bid from Mr Redknapp.
Portsmouth seem set to lose Muntari to Inter for a fee of over £12 million and it is widely reported that Harry will use this cash to prise Wright-Phillips from Stamford Bridge. He’s long been searching for a solution on the right of midfield and the England man is certainly equipped to fill that role.
Wright-Phillips has been a background figure at Chelsea, only really showing glimpses of his former self. In the 2004-05 season, the midfielder contributed 10 goals and 6 assists in 33 starts for Man City. That prompted his big money move to Chelsea but since then his fantasy output and first team starts have been limited.
A move to Portsmouth would go a long way to resurrecting his career and his fantasy potential. In the Fantasy Premier League game Wright-Phillips is priced at just 7.5 – a potential bargain if he moves and gets the chance of 30+ starts once again.
According to the report in the Mail, the wheels are already in motion, with a friend of Wright-Phillips apparently quoting…
‘Shaun is thrilled at this chance…he wants to work with Harry and get himself back to his best form, flying down the wing again.’
Suddenly a there could be a new contender for a fantasy midfield slot.
