Mark Hughes has gone back to one of his former clubs to sign Tal Ben Haim from Chelsea for a fee believed to be around the £5 million mark.
Ben Haim found himself shoved down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and made just 17 appearances for the club.
He’s not exactly guaranteed a start at City though, with Dunne and Richards well established in the centre of defence. Richards could be moved to right-back but it looks unlikely so Ben Haim could find himself used as cover for a first choice pairing once again.
To compound matters, Ben Haim’s price in fantasy games is bloated by his Chelsea ownership. In a nutshell then, his signing is not of direct interest to fantasy managers, although his presence in the squad could see both Richards and Dunne rested, particularly if City progress in the UEFA Cup.
Ben Haim seems pretty certain to start the season however, with Dunne suspended for the first two matches.
