It seems the future of Gareth Barry is still not cut and dry with the Daily Mail reporting that Barry is confident that a deal will go ahead to take him to Liverpool by this weekend.

The Mail reports that Barry already has a house in Cheshire lined up and that a bid of £17.5 million plus Steve Finnan was accepted by Villa on Wednesday prior to the deadline placed on the deal. However, Villa refused to accept the payment in instalments and Liverpool have since been working to sort out a restructured offer.

The plot well and truly thickens but if you ask me, Villa’s statement on Wednesday was a strange one – an almost defiant announcement which seemed to be aimed as much at Barry himself as the press and public. My money is currently on Barry being at Anfield signing terms by Monday morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
