Just when you thought it was safe to draft in Anelka, Chelsea make an official move on Read Madrid’s Robinho as another of the summer’s transfer sagas threatens to come to a head.
Reports this evening are claiming that a £19.7 million offer has been made to Madrid even though the official statement on the Chelsea site doesn’t reveal a fee.
Madrid aren’t keen to let the Brazilian leave the club, although it was thought it would have been a possibility should the Ronaldo deal been on the cards. That’s no longer the case, so you would expect this bid from Chelsea to be turned down.
We can only wait and see. In the meantime, best hold fire on those Chelsea signings.
The arrival of Robinho would likely change Scolari’s lineup, formation, style of play – the lot. Such disruption with a week to go before the start of the season is a gamble on Chelsea’s part, particularly given their strong pre-season form. It’s also a pain in the posterior for us fantasy managers.
Quite why they Chelsea left it so late to make a bid, so much so that it comes after the Ronaldo deal is dead in the water, is a bit of mystery to be honest.
