Andy Johnson has completed his switch to Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The striker has signed a 4-year deal at the Cottage after negotiations with Everton were finally concluded following reports that a medical had revealed concerns for the London club.

Fulham will now be looking to hand Johnson a debut against Torino on Saturday.

From a fantasy perspective, it’s difficult to assess how this move will impact on Johnson’s points output. The striker struggled for form at Everton last season but could well adapt better to life back in London alongside Bobby Zamora.

Restricted by injury and restricted by Moyes’ use of a 4-5-1 formation, the striker registered 6 goals and 4 assists in 20 starts. The previous season he’d contributed 11 goals and 7 assists in 32 starts, after a promising first couple of months at Goodison.

Johnson and Yakubu never really developed an understanding at Everton and in truth Moyes never really settled on a 4-4-2 with the pair in tandem, preferring a 4-5-1 with Cahill in support of a lone striker.

Fulham’s new signing could well form a more effective partnership with Zamora for Hodgson’s side. On paper, that’s a big/little partnership that shows promise. Both strikers will have a point to prove and the likes of Bullard, Gera and Davies are capable of providing ammunition from midfield. Hodgson has already demonstrated that he likes his sides to attack which should make for plenty of goals down at the Cottage.

With Zamora priced just above the budget bracket across the games, he looks a better option than a mid-price Johnson. However, the former Everton man is a streaky striker who, once on form, can rattle in goals. His form will need to be monitored and if a Johnson bandwagon starts rolling, it could well be worth jumping aboard.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
