West Brom have confirmed the signing of Bolton’s Abdoulaye Meite in a deal worth £2million.

While such a signing wouldn’t normally be big news for fantasy managers, Meite is of interest because, bizarrely, he is currently owned by 21% (170,000) of Fantasy Premier League managers – ranking him fourth overall behind the big-hitters – Lescott, Laursen and Ferdinand.

It will be interesting to see how this shifts, if at all, in the next five days with Meite likely to start in a Baggies defence that was hardly renowned for clean sheets in division that they won last season.

For those having to reconsider as a result of this transfer, Wigan’s Maynor Figueroa is available for the same 4.0 price as Meite in the FPL. Figueroa as had a good pre-season, fires in crosses, has a fierce shot and seems set to get starts with Bruce talking him up just a few days ago. You know what to do.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
