While thousands of fantasy managers looked for ways to juggle their squad around Dimitar Berbatov, another big hitting fantasy forward, Didier Drogba, made a quiet return to action in Chelsea reserves last night.

The striker played 58 minutes of last night’s reserve victory over Arsenal as he stepped out his recovery from a knee injury which has kept him out for 4 months.

Given that Anelka has failed to take his opportunity in Drogba’s absence and that Chelsea were beaten to Robinho by City, it seems nailed down the Drogba will be brought back into Scolori’s lineup as soon as possible.

Drogba himself is being cagey about a return date. “It felt good to play but it’s a bit early to say I’m ready,” he remarked after last night’s game. A return against United on September 20 would appear to be an obvious target date.

Once fit and established back in the side, Drogba is undoubtedly a major consideration although a somewhat unfashionable fantasy pick compared to Torres and Berbatov. Chelsea are creating plenty of chances, particularly at the Bridge and, despite only making 17 Premiership appearances last season, the Drogba contributed 8 goals and 6 assists.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
