Some of you may have noticed that I’ve done some work on the season ticker over the weekend.
The colour coding key has changed slightly to reflect the difficulty of the fixtures and I’ve also revised the grading of the various teams based on current form. As a result games against Hull are no longer classed as “blue”, while games against the likes of Spurs and Newcastle certainly do take on a rather blue-ish tinge.
It all makes for a fairly useful tool when attempting to plot those runs of favourable and difficult fixtures – vital when you’re planning your transfers and squad rotation. It only takes a glance to reveal some insights…
For example, Man City’s run over the next six looks very attractive. Although they face four of those games on the road, the defences they come up against look fairly kind and should offer decent returns for their attacking players.
Fulham don’t have City’s form or goalscoring prowess but nevertheless, they have a decent run of fixtures over the next six games. Four of them are at the Cottage against Sunderland, Newcastle, Wigan and Spurs. That should see some profits for Bullard, Davies, Gera, Zamora and Johnson. Certainly worth a look for your mid-low price purchases.
Villa are another side who should continue to see profits. They also have a run of six games with home games against Portsmouth, Blackburn and Middlesbrough. More investment in Carew, Young and Laursen looks likely, and warranted then.
If you’re looking for clean sheets then you have to consider United over the next four games. Ferguson’s men face three at home in that time against West Brom, West Ham and Hull. Chelsea are the other force in this category of course and their fixtures also look kind. They face Liverpool in gameweek 9 but should have nothing to fear from the run of games that follows, right up to Arsenal on gameweek 15.
There’s some quick thoughts then. Check and the ticker yourself and post your comments.
