Full scout notes will appear here later but already there is some fairly major injury news to digest with West Brom’s Ishmael Miller set to be out for six weeks.
The West Brom striker has reportedly picked up knee ligament damage after clashing with David James in today’s 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns…
Although results from a scan have yet to be confirmed by the Baggies, Sky Sports are reporting that scans have confirmed the injury. That will leave Tony Mowbray with Roman Bedar and Luke Moore as his only strikers with Premiership experience as they enter the busy Christmas period. It’s also a bitter blow for those fantasy managers who have invested in Miller’s not insubstantial budget potential.
Miller is now likely to be out until the middle of January, coinciding with West Brom’s inevitable search for at least one new striker, as they look to cling onto Premiership status.
The Baggies forward is owned by 4% of FPL managers – thanks to assured starts, three goals and two assists and a measly 5.0 price tag. Bednar will provide an instant alternative, although he appears less tempting at 5.4. Many Miller owners could turn to the likes of Derbyshire, Anichebe and Camara although none of those three offer any real security in terms of starting roles. Zamora at 5.2 is another candidate , although he has hardly had a productive season so far. Carlton Cole (5.5) could see some traffic coming his way given that he looks set to maintain his starting role for West Ham. Other than that, an upgrade to Stoke’s Fuller (5.6) or Hull’s King (6.2) may well be the best option available.
