Hull have to be the fantasy managers favourite team this season. They’ve given us Geovanni, Turner and to some extent the reliable trickle of points from the likes of King, Dawson and Marney. Now here’s another possible bargain in the amber and black for you – Bernard Mendy.
The defender took Marney’s place on the right of Hull’s midfield at Anfield and terrorised Dossena for half-an-hour before shifting to right-back to replace the injured McShane. He’s now eyeing up regular starts in the Hull side – possibly in that midfield role…
While the Hull defence can’t be relied upon for clean sheets these days, their forward-thinking football and supplementary attacking points make their defenders -particularly Turner, worth consideration. If Mendy can hold down a starting role on the right of Hull’s midfield it will spell trouble for owners of Marney but could provide us with a real bargain. Mendy is classed as a defender across the fantasy games and is priced at just 4.0 in the Fantasy Premier League game right now.
What’s more, with McShane injured and ineligible against Sunderland this weekend, he is assured of a start. He may not be playing in that midfield role, but given his attacking threat, he could be worth an early punt.
For me, he joins a list of new emerging bargain purchases that include West Brom’s Greening and Newcastle’s Bassong.
