Suspensions

Just to clarify the issue surrounding the impending suspension to Vidic following his straight red card awarded in today’s 4-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Vidic was dismissed for “denying a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by physical means” and according to FA suspension rulings, he will therefore face an immediate one match ban. However, as this is a second red card of the season for Vidic (he was sent off against Liverpool at Anfield in September) then he will serve an additional one match ban.

The defender will now miss United’s two next league games against Fulham at the Cottage and Villa at Old Trafford. Jonny Evans is likely to come into the side to take his place alongside Ferdinand for those fixtures. He could represent decent value in the short-term, however, you have to consider the effect that today’s defeat and the loss of Vidic will have on United’s confidence in defensive terms.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
