Cesc Fabregas could face several weeks on the sidelines according to Mr Wenger, after the Spaniard tweaked a hamstring in the 4-1 win over Portsmouth on Saturday.
The Gunners playmaker was withdrawn at half-time and the initial news on this was that this was just as a precautionary measure. However, Wenger sounded more than a little pessimistic on the injury after the game…
“If it is a little pull, he will be out for three weeks, if it is just tightness, maybe he can get away for Wednesday”
It’s Celtic on Wednesday and with a 2-0 lead from the first leg and United lying in wait next weekend, it seems very unlikely that Fabregas will be risked. The possibility of a longer lay-off will have thousands of fantasy managers in panic mode though. Fabregas has proved to be a hugely popular signing in the last week or so, following his massive fantasy haul at Everton on day one of the season. Over 60,000 managers brought him in in the Fantasy Premier League game before this gameweek, resulting in a 0.2 price rise for the midfielder.
According to Wenger, we should know more in 48 hours with results from a scan on the injury expected on Monday.
