Before we all head off into the sunset for a quiet weekend sans fantasy football and pay our over the top subscription fees to watch England play against Ukraine (seriously, who is going to pay that amount of money!?), let’s all partake in another round-up of all things related to the Fantasy Football Scout Leagues. Unsurprisingly, I think a certain Mr. Cesc Fabregas probably had a whole lot of weight in everything this week…
Fantasy Football Scout League (Fantasy Premier League)
The classic Scout League once more stays top of the pops, we continue to set trends across the fantasy realm, and long may it continue I say (hello to all new readers while I’m at it too, why not set up a profile and join our community of commenters?). Last weeks leader scored an average 41 points, but that was never going to be enough to hold top spot so Murray Fleeton and his Cesc inspired team jumped at the chance to be the next person to have the mantle of scout leader. Rasping Drive and Warlock continue to carry the banner for our regular posting community, flying high in 8th and 7th place respectively.
Fantasy Football Scout League (Can You Kick It)
Over in Can You Kick It the Scout League continues it’s battle with the folks over at the FISO forum, nothing beats a good bit of competition does it? It’s also good when you’re currently coming up trumps. As for inside the actual league, we have Paul Whittaker keeping the throne warm for another week. Who wants to be challenging him then? The Hunt scored 67, djman102 scored 69 and Wassup equalled that 69 too. Sitting in 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively – they will be itching to jump the last hurdle to make the top spot their own.
League leader BP FC only needed a draw to maintain his lead at the top of this table, and that is what he got. a 78 a piece stalemate with captainmarvel would seem somewhat unfortunate for both, scoring 78 points this week I would imagine both would have felt a victory was deserved – especially captainmarvel who was looking for only his 2nd victory this season. Almost every Scout contributor in this league lost this week – Mark, Granville, Akers, Greek Fan and Andy (me) all lost, the only victor was I’m Not Marshal Foch, and he beat the aforementioned tweet champion Greek Fan 55-24. The bonus points were kind to Jimi this week, as up until 10pm on Monday he was 1 point down to Marknlard, but Richard Dunne’s performance and goal was enough to earn him 3BP and sneak him the win by two points. He now sits in second place with Comfy Coxy, MFaulkner and Seanigula only behind on overall rank.
It’s all things steady at the top of this Head to Head league, our three pacesetters all won this week. Aldershot Rejects, JWF and dadoune30 all chalked up another 3 points on the table thanks to a very Cescy little captain; go figure. Despite having the equal second worst scores in the league this week (only Fran scored worse with 26), both of Monstery and Feanor managed to somehow walk away with one point in a 34 points all draw – highlighting once more how much luck can be required in these leagues. Don Corleone and his team Don’s Fish still can’t get a win for love nor money either, perhaps a game against Jonny will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back next gameweek.
Another case of the steady Eddie as djman102 continues his hold on the top of this league, while still clawing away at CYKI – plenty for our stateside friend to be excited about each week then, I am just a wee bit jealous myself, I must confess. Ryangal1982 is the luckiest manager in town as his less than impressive (sorry) return of 33 points this week was still enough to win his game against Pure Olivia this week. Oh yeah, I must add that djman102 stays top without even winning this week, he scored 73 points but still got a mighty wallop from dribbler and his 89 point, basketful of Arsenal eggs wildcard team. I personally questioned it, but if there ever was a week to take such a move – it was gameweek eight and their six goal rout.
Following a trend set in all of the three previous Head to Head leagues, Sasquatch stays top of the league thanks to his Cesc inspired (need I even mention it? probably not) victory over Donnylad . The loser here is probably slightly gutted as he too had Fabregas, but sadly gave the FPL armband to Wayne Rooney. Elsewhere, Mike McBam managed to sneak a victory with a low low low score of 33 points. While JN breezed to a win with his 45 point team because his opponent Rouge123, took a 16 point transfer hit that didn’t really bring significant returns, and only 13 competitive points.
matzi11a surpassed all above him this week to become the new league leader in the final of our select entry leagues; captain Fabregas once again making it easy. What is surprising is that his 44 points wouldn’t have even been needed to beat The Hunt who collected just 18 points this week. He’s running on a high in CYKI but in the bottom 5% of gameweek scores in the FPL; talk about contrasting emotions. Jonty was the league’s low scoring lucky soul – 36 points forged from Robin Van Persie and Darren Bent were enough to sneak past 30 point scoring Kevin O’Looney. He is amongst 5 managers only one win away from possibly making that top spot their own – let’s see if one of them does do it in two weekends time.
Only 3 of the 612 managers maintain an unbeaten record in the Reserve League, we’re almost at a point where it looks a bit more reasonable for all teams in the league to at least be within a chance of a shot at a healthy position. That being said, last week’s leader still remains at the summit, so applause beckons for Alistair Marsden once more, as his 8 consecutive victories and 38th spot (in the world) continue his incredibly impressive start. As I begin to look down the league, I also notice that with 7 victories out of 8, and 454 points to date, champoz is currently lying in wait in 32nd position and very much within earshot of a top spot if he can maintain his form.
Okay then folks, next report in two weeks where I promise I will try my best to win a game (odds are high that I won’t), I believe it’s been so long since I won a Head to Head, it was Faustino Asprilla that got me the winning bonus points. Now let us go break open our penny jars for the England game and wait as the injury news rolls in from around the globe.
