Burnley’s Wade Elliot could face a possible three match ban according to reports this morning. The much-fancied fantasy midfielder was involved in an incident with Blackburn’s Pascal Chimbonda in Sunday’s 3-2 defeat at Ewood.
The clash wasn’t spotted by referee Chris Foy on the day, although Rovers boss Sam Allardyce certainly didn’t miss it.
“There was one incident I thought was nasty with Wade Elliott on Chimbonda. When you see it again you’ll see what I mean.”
According to the report in the Sun, the FA have confirmed that they are investigating the matter and there’s every chance that Foy will hand out a red card for the offence, together with a three match ban for a charge of violent conduct.
Elliot, who notched his third assist of the season on Sunday, has proved a big fantasy favourite of late and is owned by almost 7% of the two million managers in the Fantasy Premier League game. Should he receive a ban, he would be in line to miss league games against Wigan, Hull and Man City.
We should know more on the FA investigation today. The FA have already made a ruling on Robert Huth’s clash with Matt Upson yesterday, with the Stoke defender charged with violent conduct. He has until Thursday to appeal but is now set to miss the weekend’s trip to Spurs, the Carling Cup tie with Portsmouth and the home game with Wolves.
