The 5th round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, saw 32 fantasy managers face each other in 16 ties that took place during gameweek 9 of the Fantasy Premier League season. Read on to find out who is through and how they did it in this round-up article…

The first tie of the round saw LaDiDa break the curse of the top scorer. The last three winners of the gameweekly prize had all been immediately eliminated, but not this week, thanks to a narrow 50-45 victory over Sir Steve Kirk.

Narrow victories were the order of the day when totting the results up, with 11 of the 16 ties settled by 6 points or less. Burton‘s 51 was narrowly bettered by Breakballartists‘ 56, and, despite having Torres and Pienaar on his bench, George edged past oi keano in a low low-scoring 47-41 tie. Unusually low scores all-round in the cup this week, with an average haul of little under 48.

Little Lukin‘s cup run came to an end after he suffered a 51-50 defeat at the hands of Poshleftme. Also through are firecamel and Pure Olivia after they had healthy victories over RaspingDrive (52-39) and Forest Green Rover 4 eva (52-40) respectively.

Just one tie ended honours even (46-46) in the 5th round with marvellus harshly knocked out by Barkerov due to a lower overall ranking. Barkerov’s higher ranking is thanks to just a single point, so marvellus can feel doubly unlucky there. Pocky also bit the bullet this week after his 51-45 loss to Shava.

pataka‘s decision to take a 4 point hit bringing in David Dunn and Robin Van Persie paid dividends as it saw him progress at the expense of Wes 53-47. Transfers in the tie between deppy35 and Josepe also proved to be pivotal, with deppy35 opting to activate his wildcard and bring in the likes of Kevin Prince Boateng, whereas Josepe will be ruing his decision to spend 4 points bringing in Andy Reid and Emanuel Adebayor for Dirk Kuyt and Kevin Doyle, as you could isolate that decision as what cost him a place in the 6th round, having lost his tie 50-42.

The tie with the highest aggregate score was between denial and Leeds_Champion, with the latter running out 59-55 winners. Aldershot Rejects and Brick secured places in the next round with narrow victories over Sparky (49-47) and Comfy_Coxy (46-43) respectively.

The lowest score in the round was met with the lowest score needed for victory when Chucky77‘s 33 was soundly beaten by donnellyc‘s 42. Elsewhere, in tie 15, Frankel beat Bedknobs and Boomsticks 49-46.

The final tie of the round saw djman102 lose 61-42 to Sam (Team Sam) in what was not only the biggest margin of victory, but also the highest gameweek total from Sam (Team Sam). A score of 61 entitles Sam (Team Sam) to a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

You can view all the results in full here. The draw for the 6th round will take place later this week and I’ll publish the set of fixtures accordingly. Congratulations to the final 16 and commiserations to the 16 who leave the competition at this stage.
