It’s all go today, with significant injury news being thrown at us from all angles. Jose Bosingwa is the subject of the very latest stories. It turns out that the Chelsea man could be sidelined for at least a month according to reports that have surfaced this morning…

The right-back has missed the last three matches due to a knee injury and according to sources today, he’s been told that surgery is the best course of action to solve the problem. He is obviously keen to sort the problem before the World Cup and is apparently still consulting medical advice, having returned home to Portugal last week…

“It’s all up to the doctors, but I’ll accept the best solution.”

An operation would see Bosingwa out of action for around a month, which would see him miss Premier League fixtures against United, Wolves, Arsenal and City and possibly Everton. In his absence, Ivanovic would likely to face a run of starts at right-back, although Belletti and fit-again Paulo Ferreira are other options open to Carlo Ancelotti.

Ivanovic looks to be in the box seat though. He is considerably cheaper than Bosingwa across the fantasy games and is priced at just 5.6 in the Fantasy Premier League game. Although Chelsea’s forthcoming fixtures are stiff, Ivanovic would provide a tantalising option in the league’s best defence.

Interestingly, with Evans seemingly set for a run of games in the United defence, and Gibbs installed at left-back for Arsenal over the next month; suddenly there could be mid-price defensive options available in three of the top four sides. Interesting stuff.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
