Eight games today. You heard me right, we’re taking a step back in time and the largest percentile of Premiership games are actually taking place on a Saturday and at 3pm. All we need now is the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Wimbledon (now the MK Dons) and QPR back in the Premiership and it’ll be just like the ‘good old days’ of Brevett, Pressman and Ekoku.
Anyway, the Dugout Discussion is now open to play for commenting as well as in the Fantasy Football Scout chatroom as we prepare for our early kick-off…
When we first saw the Sky schedule and saw Portsmouth playing host to Burnley then most of us could possibly have been a little bit disappointed. However, this game is a venerable 6-pointer and could be the perfect opener for the day. Goals galore could be on the cards in this game (so prepare for that dreaded, dire 0-0 then I guess). The line-ups are out and Steve Finnan jumps right back into defence after injury while Tommy Smith pushes Piquionne to the bench. Burnley with only one enforced change as Chris McCann comes in for suspended captain Steven Caldwell, pushing Andre Bikey back into the centre-backs role for the day.
We’ll then traverse right through six 3pm kick-offs as the likes of Arsenal play host to Stoke, hoping to finally get their first goal since Robin fell foul of injury and Rafa Benitez’ men take the short journey to Ewood Park without talismanic striker Fernado Torres – Blackburn could very well be missing their driving force David Dunn as well, who alongside Keith Andrews faces a late fitness test.
Mark Hughes’ Man City side close out the day with our 5:30pm kick-off as they face their toughest test yet, playing host to league leaders Chelsea – can they finally bring an to 7 league draws on the trot? We shall find out by about 7:30 this evening.
So seven hours of top drawer Premiership football to gorge yourself on, comment away in this here thread with any and all rumblings on the games today – and if you fancy a more interactive bit of discussion, come on over to the Scout Chat Room for a bit of live commentary with me and your fellow Scout community.
