The folks over at Fantasy Premier League have announced the kick off of their own worldwide cup competition, and it starts tomorrow evening as gameweek 17 kicks off for some midweek action…

From the details provided it looks like this gameweek will be a one off qualification round before the big competition starts in proper at the weekend.

Qualifying for the tournament will require a managers to come inside the top 2,097,152 gameweekly scores at the close of business Wednesday evening. Seeing as there are “only” 2,187,774 managers in the game altogether, and some have surely given up the ghost by now so if you don’t qualify for the first round then in all honesty I don’t think one could complain, there must be bigger problems afoot. as an example, my terrible gameweek 14 score still came in the lofty height of a gameweekly rank of 1,810,193.

Prizes are still pretty slim on the ground (sigh – greedy Ed) from a tournament this large in scale – a camera, mp3 player & replica kit (you are really spoiling us – greedy Ed) are up for grabs for the overall winner. Our own recent cup competition had prizes that exceeded those on offer here – but we’re certainly not going to turn a blind eye at a chance of taking part.

Here’s to cheering on as many scout contributors, commenters and readers to getting as far on in the competition as possible. If nothing else, it will hopefully serve as good practice for when we next run our FFS Cup competition.
