Brrrrr it’s awfully chilly out. So chilly outside in fact that all Carling Cup games scheduled for this midweek have since been postponed.

Blackburn were due to host Aston Villa in the Carling Cup tonight – that game has been called off. And tomorrow Manchester United were going to make the short trip across town to face their rivals City – that is now also off

What’s even more pertinent is that United have already announced the game has been rescheduled, pushing the second leg to be played on the evening of Wednesday January 27th. As this story points out, the fixture would normally have been rescheduled sooner but for Man City hosting Blackburn in front of ESPN’s live television camera’s next monday.

What does this mean then? Well Manchester United and City no longer have a fixture in GW23 of the FPL game, and if Blackburn vs Aston Villa gets a similar kind of rescheduling (possible, but can only speculation for now) then they could also miss out on their fixtures as well – Blackburn host Wigan, and Villa host Arsenal in gameweek 23.

The only ‘saving grace’ is that Manchester United and Hull City were both knocked out of the FA Cup this past weekend, so if the men behind the fixture schedules get planning quickly, that game could even be played on the weekend of January 23rd – possibly handing us a quick double gameweek. Man City are still in the FA Cup so they will certainly have another fixture in their pending list. Blackburn and Villa won’t have such luxuries if their game is rescheduled, with themselves and their opponents still involved in the FA Cup.

We will have to wait and see on that though, again it’s all just speculation at this stage. We will be the first to let you know when things begin to iron out. For now there is plenty for us fantasy managers to get our heads around (I suddenly think of all those people who brought in Tevez early in this last week).
