Owen Coyle is the latest manager to benefit from Arsenal’s seemingly unending conveyor belt of young talent, with the news that Jack Wilshere is heading on loan to the Reebok till the end of the season.
Having initially confirmed his interest as manager of Burnley, Coyle’s persistence -despite his change of club- has paid off, with the prodigious youngster now agreeing to turn out in Bolton’s colours instead.
Wilshere certainly looks likely to get plenty of game minutes, as Arsene Wenger, weighing up his options, has recently said:
“”We look to have a guarantee that he will get his chance. After that, it’s down to him to stay in the side. I want him to go to the right club and play.”
Despite several clubs making enquiries, Bolton won the race, and much is down to Coyle’s determination to have his teams play passing football, with his appointment heralding the end of the more direct style associated with the club for a number of years.
The move had looked doubtful after Coyle muddied relationships with Wenger by criticising William Gallas’ tackle on Mark Davies in the clubs’ recent game at the Emirates, but having retracted his comment, Coyle was once again in the driving seat.
Coming in at just £4.3m in FPL, a player of Wilshere’s talent could well be an absolute bargain midfielder. He could well start on the left of midfield, though Wenger has been known to play him on the right of midfield at Arsenal, allowing him to cut inside onto his stronger foot. Over the next six weeks, Bolton have two lots of Double Gameweeks, with their fixtures being (liv, FUL, mcity & wig, bla, WLV, whm & sun).
With the Coyle revolution gaining speed, he’ll be given every chance to impress, and goes straight into the Bolton squad that travel to Anfield this afternoon, as his new club look to climb the table and head for Premiership safety.
