Negotiating a passage into the third round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power, was never going to be easy. However, considering 159 managers broke the 100-point mark, and the average score for the round was 103, some may not have expected such a high standard.

With a brief break-down of the second round results, including the all-Scout Contributor match-up between Andy and Granville, read on. If you want to see the full list of results, then you can by clicking here

Last weeks top scorer NBJ continued his fine form by doing it again!! With a score of 137, he scoops the free £25 bet, courtesy of Paddy Power, in consecutive weeks. Only Breakballartist and donnellyc managed consecutive top scores in the first Fantasy Football Scout Cup, but those were in the last four rounds. To do it in first two rounds is something extraordinary.

Speaking of donnellyc, our reigning champion, he will not be able to retain his title, after suffering a second round defeat this week, losing 101 – 95 to Joe.

Despite NBJ’s opponent Yankee scoring a healthy 111, the highest aggregate tie was between Aliwilly and applebonkers, which saw the former prevail 133 – 118. Unlucky for applebonkers, but not quite as unlucky as marti67, who achieved the highest losing score of 121, with his opponent Seb eliminating him with a score of 124.

At the other end of the scale, viciousgeorge’s 89 – 60 victory over frankiefernandez was the lowest scoring tie, and Chris de Borg’s 82 was the lowest score good enough for the third round, as he scraped past subbuk by a single point.

That was one of seven ties being decided by a single point. The other six were; Burton 117 – 116 houghmagandie, Aldershot Rejects 113 – 112 AmeliesDad, fiacloir 113 – 112 mcgee1967, the best 110 – 109 alang, John29 106 – 105 Maniso and Donconey 91 – 90 T.

Two ties finished level, one between Seven Foot Lemmings and Seal (both scored 106), and the other between immybob and Pieman (105). Pieman and Seal progress, with respective overall rankings of 53rd and 787th in the world.

The tie with the largest margin of victory saw Louie annihilate Gavin 130 – 66, making the winning margin a whopping 64.

In the glamour tie of the round, a late Lampard strike saw Granville edge out colleague Andy 104 – 99. Granville joins fellow Scout Contributor I’m Not Marshal Foch (who saw off mitchos 103 – 70) in the hat for the third round.

The draw for which will take place later today and will go up on the site either this evening or first thing in the morning.

Congratulations to the 128 fantasy managers that progress, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage.

A shout out also to Big Dunc, who has reached the last 128 of the FPL Fantasy Cup. So good luck to him. If you are still in the FPL Fantasy Cup let us know, and we will try and follow your progress in future podcasts.

edit: We have another poster in the middle of a heroic cup run James. Good luck to him also
