Iain Dowie’s home debut as Hull’s “managerial consultant” couldn’t have started better last weekend, as the Tigers picked up a much-needed three points, and, significantly, chalked up their first clean sheet at the KC Stdium since December.

The win over Fulham takes Hull level on points with West Ham, but with a game in hand. A look at the fixture list also sees that of their seven remaining fixtures, four are at home. Given that Hull have been beaten just four times at home this term -less than Stoke City- Dowie will be expecting more of the same as he goes about plotting their Premier League safety.

One of the major factors was the performance of Steven Mouyokolo. The big centre half has been impressive of late, and a series of solid displays has seen him recently linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea…

Mouyokolo’s display against Roy Hodgson’s men was integral to Hull’s clean sheet; as this chalkboard illustrates, he cleared his lines and blocked Fulham attacks time and again. More food for thought is the fact that he caught the eye of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Points judges too, going so far as to outscore Jimmy Bullard and pick up the maximum three points.

Priced at a mere £3.8m and with just 0.2% of FPL managers as owners, he is definitely worth consideration, not only given that Hull have a double fixture gameweek round the corner in gameweek 35. The club’s remaining matches read: (stk, BUR, bir AVL, SUN, wig, LIV), and there’s no doubt that if Dowie is to keep them afloat, Mouyokolo will be firmly at the heart of their performances.
