The results from the fifth round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power, are in and the competition has now reached the last sixteen. I’ll start with the huge upset of the round, as the lowest-ranked manager in the cup, williamkilcoyne, knocked out (arguably) tournament favourite NBJ, 58 – 53 in the highest-scoring tie of the round. NBJ leaves the competition after earning £75 worth of free bets.

This weeks free £25 bet, courtesy of Paddy Power, had to be decided on overall position as three managers all achieved the same top-score of 59. In third place was 6,029th ranked fiacloir, who beat TheMightyTorres 59 – 48. The runner-up was 4,910th ranked Fabio1102, who eliminated the top-ranked manager in the fifth round, MrsVorheesLilBoy, 59 – 44. Leaving 399th in the world and now the top-ranked manager in the competition, Evs, as the winner of the free bet this week, after he beat last weeks top-scorer GLAD ALL OVER 59 – 49.

There was no giant-killing in the other David and Goliath tie, as Louie, despite slipping to 675th in the world, beat the lowly-ranked Civan 37 – 34.

The last remaining Scout Contributor, I’m Not Marshal Foch, finally bit the bullet this week after losing 55 – 40 to IMWORTHIT.

With a score of 35, BonusPolice is perhaps the luckiest manager making it into the last sixteen, after his win over Comfy Coxy (31) in what was the lowest-scoring tie.

Granville’s conqueror Squerly4568 was involved with, and came out on top of, the tie with the biggest margin of victory, after he thumped pompeyfan 55 – 36. Conversely, Steve and Jonty came out on top in the two ties with the lowest margin of victory. Steve beat bassline1234 41 – 39, and Jonty saw off Doy7 42 – 40. For the first time in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, there were no ties ending level.

Elsewhere, mysterydave (45) was victorious over JimmyR32 (41), Buggu dismissed Gros 52 – 36, Morrissey1986 prevailed in his mega-tie against Little Lukin 51 – 42,  Rowlands beat menders 51 – 43, BSH eased past Funkyav 53 – 43 and Hunter S. Thompson progressed after a 41 – 33 win over Chris81.
