With minutes to go until the first fantasy deadline for this World Cup closes, we felt we had to clear up (excuse the pun) something which has occurred thanks to a post that we published last night.

We mentioned a correspondence we had with ISM over the specific details of what may entail a tackle and clearance when it comes to bonus points and after a couple of queries we feel the need to clarify what we were told, after the break…

“Hi there

No, it does not include headed challenges and clearances must be after the tackle, so they do not count.

Regards”

The above is the reply that was received when we wanted to know whether a headed challenge constitutes a tackle and whether clearances counted. From this reply we have interpreted (and published in my aforementioned article) that they do not count. After further contact with ISM we cannot be certain that this is the case, so with such a short time until the deadline we wanted it to be clear we are not 100% positive as to how these bonus points will in fact be rewarded(*).

Obviously timing is down to the wire, but we wanted to be forthright with all the information at our disposal – so if you have selected a player based on what was written in that respect, please do not take it as gospel as at this point in time; if you know someone who could be a gold-mine of headed clearances they may actually prove to be a fantasy must have.

If we get any more concrete information we will update you as and when we can. We’ve still got 30 minutes left to tinker with teams, is anyone else still playing about with the transfer page like I am?

(*)A further phone conversation since has somewhat explained the shades of grey and waters we are treading in. We had a list of previous questions that we were hoping for clarification on from ISM games, however, all information with regards to scoring in this fantasy game is actually provided by FIFA (and their own measures of recording) themselves, who we have unfortunately not heard back from yet. What may prove most vital when it comes to scouting is to see how the scoring comes back to us after the first round, then we will have a solid indication of what is exactly what, with it unfortunately being less pre-emptive of course.
