Brazil are set to go into today’s Group G decider without the talents of Elano in midfield with coach Dunga indicating that the two-goal man will be “protected” for the knockout phase. The Galatasaray trickster injured an ankle in the 3-1 win over the Ivory Coast and, along with the suspended Kaka, is set to sit out today’s game.

Elano has enjoyed a superb tournament with a couple of well taken goals boosting his Fantasy output to the extent that he has currently amassed over 20,000 transfers in for the current round in the McFIFA game earning him a couple of value hikes. There will however be some concern surrounding the injury and the likelihood that this could hamper Elano over the remaining games. His place in the side this afternoon is likely to go to Dani Alves with Julio Baptista expected to be drafted in to replace Kaka.

Dunga has insisted that Brazil will go out to win today’s game, despite the distinct possibility that by topping the group, Brazil will be paired with Spain. The pre-tournament favourites take on Chile this evening. They must seal a victory over the South Americans to claim their spot in the last sixteen. It promises to be an enthralling match-up and one that is likely to shape our last minute tinkerings prior to Saturday’s transfer deadline. Should Brazil and Spain “get it on”, it will be interesting to see if draws a degree of caution from Fantasy Managers with the likes of Maicon, Bastos and Spain’s Sergio Ramos all experiencing a last minute lull as the expectations of a clean sheet and Quarter-Final progress wavers somewhat.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
