Today’s raft of pre-season results have been collated and summarised in our Pre-Season Form guide with further updates to come.
Today’s headlines from a Fantasy perspective included another goal for Everton’s Jack Rodwell as he continues to stake a claim for a starting role. David Moyes will surely be delighted with his form and that of young right-back Seamus Coleman who is also positioning himself nicely to challenge the more senior players for a place in the side come August 14. Everton will of course welcome back the likes of Mikel Arteta and John Heitinga soon, creating further competition for places. Nonetheless both Rodwell and Coleman present two low-to-mid price offerings that are worthy of our pre-season shortlists.
A couple of the Summer’s signings earned their debuts in today’s games with Wolves’ Stephen Fletcher notching at Bohemians, while Sunderland’s Ahmed Al-Muhammadi (a 4.5 defender in the Fantasy Premier League) looked more than a little bit handy with a number of direct runs down the right for Steve Bruce’s side. Both appear to be strong options for low-key Fantasy differentials and demand monitoring over the remaining pre-season fixtures…
Newcastle’s Wayne Routledge also put in a decent shift. Chris Hughton’s side struggled to get going at Carlisle but Routledge and his twinkling toes unlocked the door in the second-half as he earned himself a couple of assists. Again, at just 4.5 in the FPL game, he offers an under-the-radar budget midfield selection.
There were also some familiar names in the thick of it with Andrey Arshavin, Michael Essien, Bobby Zamora and Carlton Cole all notching this afternoon. Fantasy Managers know all about their little inconsistencies going into the season, although continued strong form over the pre-season campaign would certainly promote them further in our thinking.
As always, keep one eye on the Pre-season Form page as we keep this up to date with all the latest results, scorers and form players as the summer rolls by.
