Wigan and Birmingham have agreed a fee for Charles N’Zogbia and the move is expected to be completed later today following a medical.
While this will be one of many transfers prior to Tuesday’s transfer window, it could be one of the most significant from a Fantasy perspective.
N’Zogbia is a hot property for Fantasy Managers having enjoyed an outstanding season at the DW last term, fetching 5 goals, 7 assists and an impressive 31 Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points.
His 6.0 starting price tag saw him attract a great deal of pre-season interest from Fantasy Managers but Wigan’s poor start and constant speculation surrounding the Frenchman’s future have stalled his start to the season. That now looks settled with the move to join Alex McLeish at St Andrews.
The question now is whether N’Zogbia can continue his form and progress at this new club. In terms of influence, Birmingham is a side fairly bereft of star players and N’Zogbia’s talents should shine brightly. His Bonus Point potential could however be hampered by the midfield magnet that is Barry Ferguson who himself gathered 31 Bonus last term and has already earned a maximum haul this season. It will be very interesting to see how future Bonus at Birmingham is distributed once N’Zogbia has settled in the side and Ferguson owners will certainly need to keep one eye on this given that Bonus Points remain the Scots one real source of Fantasy points.
We can expect McLeish to start N’Zogbia wide left – a position taken up by James McFadden so far this term. N’Zogbia starts look certain then while he is set to compete with Seb Larsson for the role of principle deadball specialist. Larsson himself has enjoyed an excellent start to the season contributing 3 assists so far.
N’Zogbia can look forward to a decent run of fixtures in the coming weeks. Following the trip to Bolton on Sunday, McLeish’s side face three home games in four (LIV wba WIG EVE) including N’Zogbia’s old team-mates in gameweek six.
While his FPL price has dropped to just 5.8 in recent weeks, once this transfer is confirmed, we can expect interest in N’Zogbia to pick up considerably with a couple of rapid price rises on the cards.
We’ve opened a new poll to canvas your interest in N’Zogbia in the light of this pending transfer. Cast your vote in the middle column now.
