Last weekend the chorus of ‘six nil’ rang loud throughout the terraces of English football stadia, but how will the goal-fest impact this week’s odds? Will your Fantasy line-ups agree with Wolves being favourites over Andy Carroll’s Newcastle or Rooney and Torres anytime goal scorer prices being skinnier than Peter Crouch on his Pringles diet? Paddy Says, “Once you pop, you just can’t stop”…

Anytime Goalscorer

  • Drogba 1.30
  • Rooney 1.43
  • Torres 1.50
  • Defoe 1.53
  • Berbatov 1.53
  • Anelka 1.61
  • Lampard 1.61
  • Hernandez 1.66
  • Crouch 1.72
  • Pavluchenko 1.72
  • Gerrard 1.80
  • Malouda 1.83
  • Ngog 1.83
  • Chamakh 2.25
  • Van Persie 2.25
  • Gerrard 2.30
  • Tevez 2.37
  • Zamora 2.40
  • Kuyt 2.70
  • Bale 2.70
  • Bent 2.70
  • Balotelli 2.75
  • Arshavin 2.80

Chelsea certainly can’t stop. With twelve goals already in the first weekend, and the Drog not even featuring in last week’s tally, it’s no surprise to see four of Chelsea’s attacking force odd’s on. But could these extremely short prices be a wolf in sheep’s clothing? Stoke are a resilient side and it seems after the probable losses in the season thus far, Paddy are going shorter than expected to cover themselves. I can’t see another 6-0 on the cards (priced up at 20/1 for all those interested in a punt anyway), but I wouldn’t gamble and bench any Blues either.

United, Liverpool and Spurs are all at home this week and face struggling sides that seem in a completely different league to the heavyweights this season. The prices certainly suggest goals, but with Rooney mis-firing, Torres struggling for fitness and Defoe fighting off the scalpel, we might have to look to the second choice front men.

The Peter Crouch hat-trick against Young Boys and short price here would hint at him finding a bit of form, whilst former spurs ace Dimitar Berbatov seems to have more energy and drive this season than last, enough for Mark to gamble on him for the Picks this week. Gerrard is always a worthy selection, but with the team around him struggling for consistency and his meagre 3 points from two games and 11.5 price, he will possibly be a risk too far for most.

Who Will Keep a Clean Sheet?

  • Chelsea 1.61 (STK)
  • Man Utd 1.66 (WHM)
  • Liverpool 1.72 (WBA)
  • Tottenham 1.90 (WIG)
  • Arsenal 2.30 (bla)
  • Man City 2.30 (sun)
  • Bolton 2.50 (BIR)
  • Wolves 2.80 (NEW)

Although effective in previous seasons Rory Delap’s throw has been better dealt by clubs recently, knocking on to his potential assists, but more importantly reducing the impact of the special weapon many have feared. So Chelsea will be prepared for the long bomb whilst Stoke struggle to create through direct play, providing just cause to include blue shirts in this week’s Fantasy defences.

United, Liverpool and Spurs all have kind fixtures, and the odds reflect this. West Brom are the only opponent against the trio that have racked up any points this season thus far, and a 1-0 victory against Sunderland seems a little limp to be wary of Liverpool’s defenders in Fantasy terms.

Michael Dawson performed well midweek against and looks to be the regular to partner the King, Gallas and Bassong rotation. Lower down the odds and the Fantasy price bracket, Bolton are fancied to keep out Birmingham making Gary Cahill’s threat from set-plays an option for those with some funds and Zat Knight the alternative for those on a shoestring.
