Now the hustle and bustle of pre-deadline nerves is over we can all sit down to another enjoyable gameweek of footballing action as the points roll in, starting with…. oh.

Abort, Abort, Abort.

Saturday kicks off with Wigan playing host to Wolves, perhaps the most interesting fact from this game being… nope, I’ve got nothing.

However, we take what we’re given, and if you can draw yourself away from the Ryder Cup for long enough, then you will see that Jordi Gomez is granted a rare start for Wigan behind the recovered Franco Di Santo. Mick McCarthy meanwhile has given us no great surprises, the line-ups in full are…

Wigan XI: Al Habs; Boyce, Gohouri, Alcaraz, Figueroua; McCarthy, Thomas; N’Zogbia, Gomez, Rodallega; Di Santo.

Wolves XI: Hahnemann; Foley, Craddock, Berra, Ward; Edwards, Henry, Mancienne, Jarvis; Fletcher, Doyle.

After this however we have six 3 o’clock kick offs that may excite the palette just a little bit more as – amongst others – West Brom play host to Bolton, Manchester United travel up to Sunderland and Redknapp invites Houllier down to London for a big day out in the Capital.

The Dugout Discussion will be open through all the days action as usual. Godspeed.

Oh, I wish everyone would just chill their freaking boots. I mean obviously I'm going to have to lose Evans and bring in VDV, but I don't want to use up my 2 free transfers now with 2 weeks of international games and training ground accidents to get through (not to mention tomorrows games)!

But no, everyone is going to panic sell and impulse buy, and I'm going to be left with less than 4.5 for my replacement defender unless I do it tonight. You're forcing my hand, you jerks.

        Blooming game theory, eh?

I will wait. And take the moral high ground if not the FPL high ground.

If you can call hoping everyone gets injured during the international break the moral high ground.

I suppose VDV and Vidic/Ferdinand getting injured would be ideal though, and they're Spurs and Man U players so that's fine! 😀

OK, how's this for a compromise:

Can everyone who lacks the sense to wait two weeks before doing their transfers do them RIGHT NOW, so that the most anyone can go up or down is 0.1, then we can all step away from the transfer button for a couple of weeks?

            What's society coming to?!

I'll have to come up with some Machiavellian scheme.

Anyone notice how Wigan are now really good attacking-wise, and Newcastle have really struggled at home. I think the fans at St James's Park are getting on their backs and they're not coping with the pressure.

Time to sell my Newcastle defenders I think.

The dilemma for me is that the following 6 seems essential but it's not possible to get them all in:

    Fabregas

    Tevez

You don't need to have all six though really, as would mean completely budgeting everywhere else, especially in defence. Having four from that lot should see you ok for most GWs in my opinion, give or take injury. Most weeks there's alwys someone else who appears to be the must have anyway. Notice Berbatov isn't in that list, whereas he was essential a couple of weeks ago. And obv Bale before that

      It's possible. 2 x 4m keepers, 1 x 4.5m midfielder, 1 x 4.5m striker and 5 defenders in the 4-4.5m range would work for me.

Personally though, I'm looking more at losing one of Tevez or Malouda to keep the balance a bit better: Arteta for Malouda, for example.

Negative points: Alex Ferguson and the necessity of Bale > VDV and having not had the money to do it this week
Positive points: Shawcross finally notches up some points, N'Zog's revival continues, I have two transfers to play with and Drogba is going to rape Arsenal.

Probably gonna miss out on the Cup cut which is a shame though, this was always going to be a poor week for me with Konchesky and Fab on the bench, wasn't prepared to off them for the one week benefit.

😀 I know man, it feels stupid, but having already got the Drog I at least have Chelsea coverage. My other options are a 5mil defender (Samba, Konchesky, Salcido) out for a 4.5mil one (probably from Sunderland), N'Zog or Yaya out for a 5/5.1 midfielder (really not keen on losing either of those two), or even offloading Fab, but having stuck with him that seems like it could be just asking for trouble. Gonna stick with Berb as that's one bandwagon I got on at the right time (pre-Liverpool).

Gonna have a look at the fixture list for my defence and see how it pans out, but prior to this week I was thinking Bale & Malouda > VDV & Cahill, and today has gone a long way to reinforce this. Only issue is the break will surely see some injuries, but at the very least I'll make some money from an early VDV switch. Hopefully I can chance waiting till tomorrow for Malouda's performance, but I'm not sure even if he's amazing it'll change anything.

I still think that Nani, playing every game and at his price, is pretty much as essential as you're going to get.

Van der Vaart and Berbatov? If you have Nani and if Ferguson is going to hand Berbatov rests then fair enough - there are plentiful options up front. VDV? He's now looking like the first name on Redknapp's teamsheet and, I'm finding it hard to make a case against him.

Far to early to be talking about good/bad/average scores. Most people will have a fair few big hitters playing tomorrow, inc most peoples captains.

May as well get Arteta and not Cahill. Arteta might not have scored good points today but he's on pens and freekicks, gets a lot of bonus etc.

Can a player go up by more than 0.1m over night?

I see Odemwingie is up 231% - does this mean his price will rise by 0.1m overnight and then reset tomorrow?
