After a reasonably low-scoring Saturday (for me at least), we have three remaining Sunday afternoon fixtures to increase our tallies. And with the four most selected captains in action today, according to our poll, we have every chance.

The first of two televised games sees Roberto’s Mancini’s Manchester City play host to Newcastle United. The headline team news for the 1:30pm game is that Newcastle leave striker, and fantasy favourite, Andy Carroll on the bench for the first time this season. For Man City, Jerome Boateng starts his first league game and Adam Johnson is once again on the bench, despite scoring mid-week…

Man City: Hart, Boateng, Toure, Kompany, Lescott, De Jong, Barry, Silva, Toure Yaya, Milner, Tevez

Newcastle: Krul, Perch, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Ben Arfa, Nolan, Tiote, Barton, Gutierrez, Ameobi

Then, on the other channel, Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea at 4pm, where both clubs are looking to bounce back from defeats last week. Elsewhere, and not on the box, 18th-placed Liverpool take on 16th-placed Blackpool at 3pm.

As always, the Dugout Discussion will be with you throughout the day. Enjoy.

Horrible challenge but one that surprisingly many people on here seem to appreciate as a good part of the game.

De jong scissored tackled him, kicked him with one leg and had the other to his foot so his leg broke.

De Jong is a thug that should be nowhere near a football pitch.

Yes but they are allowed in their respective sports. It's a spirit and fair play within the rules thing, some of these tackles are career threatening. A boxer knows what he's getting into when he steps into the ring, unless you are Holyfield I suppose and you lose half an ear.

humans aint built for contact sport, we aint built to be swinging our knees about in all directions, less control of your legs further from your brain. Its really inevitable that injuries happen, yes some are intentional but alot are just because we aint the most graceful species on earth, and we are NOT designed to be playing football. Ye gota accept theres gonna be injuries, simple as.

Howver, didnt De Jong kung fu kick someone in the WC final! and Didnt Henry do his all before? persistent offenders should be hit where it hurts- in the pocket. Ifplayers have previous, they really should be fined massively by a disciplinary panel. Thats how to stop it.

            its a widespread problem yes.

I personally think arsenal are targetted me more because they are percieved as soft, and lack the ability to defend themselves/retaliate.

united hve received their fair share....but I cant remember teams viciously "getting in the faces" of chelsea. you wouldnt with the size of their midfield would you?

Arsenal also keep the ball more than most teams, so are more likely to be on the receiving end of these bad tackles. You can't get fouled if you don't have the ball.

To be fair, Arsenal were the second most fouled team in the league last season behind Hull, who also committed the most fouls.

And you don't get opposition players coming out before games against United/Chelsea/Liverpool/whoever saying "we're going to get stuck into them".

But yes, it's a problem for the entire country, not just Arsenal.

The problem for Arsenal at the moment is they don't have a physical player who would stop opposition thinking they can get away with that. I bet teams weren't saying 'we're going to get stuck into them' in the days of Vieira, Keown, Adams Bould etc.

Have any of your injuries this season come from bad tackles anyway?

Diaby was on the receiving end of a disgusting tackle from Paul Robinson, while Walcott was injured by that Swiss player.

Sometimes the physicality of the game doesn't have a direct impact, but can wear down players that often get "special treatment". Look at Fernando Torres; his injury record in Spain was immaculate, then as as soon as he made a name for himself over here, he was constantly kicked and subsequently has been a serial crock ever since.

The problem arises when idiots read the headlines and not the actual text to what he says.

How is talking about Shawcross rugby tackling the Spurs keeper or Blackburn doing the same acting the victim, he is talking about a issue in the game but unfortunately too many halfwits only read what they want to.

not just halfwits tho. the press deliberately misrepresent what he says.

wenger would take a leaf or two out of fergies book with a few timely medi bans.

Wenger tells it as he sees it though, he's not pathetic enough to censor reporters.

He's also one of the worst losers in the history of the game, so makes ludicrous miss-informed comments when he has his p*ssy face on. Darren Fletcher for example.

True but show me a good loser.

He runs from no one and hides behind no one hence why the media quote him so much.

erm, I'm not sure if Fergie would be the best person to follow when dealing with the media.

Wenger's an awful loser, but so is Lord Ferg - "typical Germans", "Alan Wiley just isn't fit enough".

yeah not doing anything as yet but Carroll's been frustrating me a bit lately and Elmander does look like a regular scorer with very good fixtures. Fabs should be nailed on after his long rest though I would have thought and shouldn't play the internationals. A price drop would be nice though.

wtf?! What is up with fans constantly booing their own team halfway through a game? Do they just expect to win every game 6-0?

It happened at Birmingham yesterday as well
