The short wait to find out the magic number needed to qualify for the third Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, is over. All thanks to my colleague SUPERIOR BEING for producing the results so quickly.

A fantastic turnout for the qualifying round saw 1,283 fantasy managers fighting it out for just 510 places. After hits, a score of 49 or above is good enough for the first round. For the 43 fantasy managers sitting on 48 points for the week, you will have to click here to see if you made the grade, as your qualification is dependant on overall rank…

With odds so slim, it’s no surprise to see so many big names drop out at this early stage. Amongst others, contributors SIR PAULOS (46), Big Dunc (42), Andy (43), SUPERIOR BEING (37), Da Beeeez (38) and Money Mike (38) all missed the cut, leaving just six contributors left in the Cup.

So onto the first round proper now, where Jonty and donnellyc join us. The fixtures for which will be published a few days before the next deadline (although I may not make you wait that long).

Thanks again to everyone who entered, congratulations to the qualifiers, and commiserations to those missing the cut.

    here's the issue i think alot of people need to think about-

    Malouda is away at villa next week. Fabs has Brum at home. Malouda may well be rested for the wolves game according to alot of people.

    THerefor, the smart move is DEFINTELY get fabs in and Malouda out.

    Assuming Fabs is fit ladies and gents, you gotta ask yourself one thing- will Malouda get that rest v wolves becasue of europe and ancellotti's previous?

    WIth everyone having malouda, i think this is the key to making a very big gain the next two weeks. Not only would getting fabs in for malouda mean you dont have 10million wasted gameweek 9, youalso wont have to waste a transfer getting fabs in gameweek 11 for their FABulous fixtures.

    Who's with me in that i havent a fuking clue what to think??? 🙂

        Attila, you dont worry about malouda not returning recently, that his stats were never gonna be meaintained (that 4 shots four goals shit for example), and the fact he has tough fixtures away coming up, and could be rested in the only home game they have in four v wolves??

          Yep you do have a point and there are concerns there, however as a LWF he should provide the returns over the long haul. If not then it's a relatively easy switch to Arteta.

        My you guys are incredibly fickle.

        Malouda just last Tuesday played excellently against Marseille. One average week later at Arsenal and you're all saying he's going to be dropped and shouldn't be kept. I think he's too valuable at the moment to drop, not to mention the 0.4 loss in value if I sold him.

          Dont forget the only games he hasnt done well in is against man city and arsenal, both of whom played well against chelsea. The only other he got dropped.

          Cant see too many other sides having the better of chelsea and if that is the case, malouda will shine.

      I think that call is spot on - Malouda transfer out is worth risking imho with rotation around the Champions League possible.

      Those three are currently key to their teams' chances - the latter is not quite taking all the shine off Bale (who made 6 key passes on Saturday) but Harry is willing to go almost 4-4-1-1 with VDV in the team.

      Gotta hand it to him, he was good but he should be, the real star for the yanks was Ricky Fowler (sounds like he should be in eastenders).
