We were just about to remind you to place your vote in the Captain Poll and contribute to the closely fought battle going on between Cesc Fabregas and Nani, when one quick newsflash later, it all gets turned upside down.

The news that Fabregas is highly doubtful to make an appearance against Birmingham this weekend opens up the options and makes our original poll somewhat redundant. So we’ve simply opened up a new one, sans Fabregas…

As mentioned, Luis Nani was fighting tooth and nail, and winning, at the top of the poll with the Arsenal captain and will now surely steal a march on all of the competitors. Nani has, quite unexpectedly, become Mr. Reliable – something fans and critics alike could not have anticipated twelve months ago. The winger is now a major attacking force at Old Trafford and he should be a vital component again this weekend. West Brom are the visitors, and that is, despite their ambitious start, still to be regarded as a plum tie when considering top calibre players having a crack at opening up traveling defences.

While we envisage Nani to make a charge for the Captain Poll title, it’s not a foregone conclusion. Carlos Tevez faces a trip to Blackpool and the only rock he is hoping to see is the one sandwiching Ian Holloway with his friend Mr. Hardplace while he takes the obliging Blackpool defence to task.

Nani’s team mate Dimitar Berbatov is also an attractive option. Fully rested having retired from international duty, he will surely be a strong bet to profit in United home win.

The consistently reliable Didier Drogba is always worthy of consideration. He makes a tough-looking trip to Villa Park, although we’ve seen in the past that Drogba has no regard for the difficulty of the opposition when it comes to returning points for his Fantasy owners.

Throw in Rafael Van Der Vaart, with his bandwagon still motoring, Samir Nasri aiming to fill the almighty void left in Fabregas’ wake, plus several other left-field picks, and there’s clearly an array of selections to ponder.

As mentioned, we’ve started a fresh poll on the frontpage so we encourage every last one of you to vote, or re-vote, and let us know where your armband will be going in Gameweek 8 given today’s news from the Emirates.

Who is the best midfielder now as an alternative to Fabregas? I was going to bring him in for Gerrard but now I have no idea who to pick.

Currently have: Gerrard, Nani, Malouda, Bale, Davies

    Any ideas?

Ooo, interesting news about Fabregas. (Been asleep all day, on nights)

This throws my Arshavin > Fabregas change out the window.

    Time for a re-think.

Do I keep Arshavin?! Do I bring in Nani?

Never mind, we'll make a good housewife of you yet Greg. Check after 20mins, cut one of the scampi pieces in half - it should be really hot in the centre, if its still cold give it another 5 or so mins and check again.

It is an English delicacy which is a breaded prawn, generally deep fried by the dozen and eaten with tartare sauce and chips (and a pint of bitter).

Not to be confused with Scampi Fries, which are crispy chunks of radioactive waste served in foil packets.

Ha! Those burns are how you learn...

20 minutes then put a fork into a scampi and then put it against your finger and see if it comes out hot. If so, they are done. If the fork is still cold, stick them in for 5 more minutes.

      couple of reaons

      he hasnt been inconsistent

he has payued 7 games, the first was on the left ,70 minutes, doesnt count, second 24 minutes, doesnt count

      the other 5
      14, 8, 6 , 12, 3

considering he got three points in the sunderland game, when untied were terrible and not just nani, i would ignore that aswell

wba are going to old trafford, this is a bread and butter game for nani

granted wba have done well so far but chelsea showed them up so too can united and a pacey and trickey winger such as nani where 1 on 1s are important are what will show up a sub par defence

predict big returns for the boy

who by the by looked very good over internationals

If it was away last season then I totally agree with you BUT, its not, There at home, Man U are so formidable at home. West Brom, as good as they are will concede and Nani and Berbatov are at the heart of Man U this season, thus these two being involved. If I had Berb, I would (C) him over Nani but I don't. I also think Nani might have turned over a new consistency leaf.
