We were just about to remind you to place your vote in the Captain Poll and contribute to the closely fought battle going on between Cesc Fabregas and Nani, when one quick newsflash later, it all gets turned upside down.

The news that Fabregas is highly doubtful to make an appearance against Birmingham this weekend opens up the options and makes our original poll somewhat redundant. So we’ve simply opened up a new one, sans Fabregas…

As mentioned, Luis Nani was fighting tooth and nail, and winning, at the top of the poll with the Arsenal captain and will now surely steal a march on all of the competitors. Nani has, quite unexpectedly, become Mr. Reliable – something fans and critics alike could not have anticipated twelve months ago. The winger is now a major attacking force at Old Trafford and he should be a vital component again this weekend. West Brom are the visitors, and that is, despite their ambitious start, still to be regarded as a plum tie when considering top calibre players having a crack at opening up traveling defences.

While we envisage Nani to make a charge for the Captain Poll title, it’s not a foregone conclusion. Carlos Tevez faces a trip to Blackpool and the only rock he is hoping to see is the one sandwiching Ian Holloway with his friend Mr. Hardplace while he takes the obliging Blackpool defence to task.

Nani’s team mate Dimitar Berbatov is also an attractive option. Fully rested having retired from international duty, he will surely be a strong bet to profit in United home win.

The consistently reliable Didier Drogba is always worthy of consideration. He makes a tough-looking trip to Villa Park, although we’ve seen in the past that Drogba has no regard for the difficulty of the opposition when it comes to returning points for his Fantasy owners.

Throw in Rafael Van Der Vaart, with his bandwagon still motoring, Samir Nasri aiming to fill the almighty void left in Fabregas’ wake, plus several other left-field picks, and there’s clearly an array of selections to ponder.

As mentioned, we’ve started a fresh poll on the frontpage so we encourage every last one of you to vote, or re-vote, and let us know where your armband will be going in Gameweek 8 given today’s news from the Emirates.

Plan this week was to be Milner out Fabs in. What now? Leave as is or take in Nani on a free this week then Fabs for Nani next week?

Or Milner > Fabs next week and also have to get rid of Perch.

Too much chopping and changing is bad imo for just 1 GW. Keep Gerrard until GW10 when Cesc is more profitable.

Hi lads. Did I read on here a while back that Dempsey will not be OOP for much longer? If not, why not...is it to do with Dembele's injury. Any opinions welcome, I'm cosidering Dempsey for 2 (or more GWs) Thanks.

Liverpools options seriously limited for left back, Agger and Aurelio unlikely to feature. Basically, if he starts would be surpised for him not to complete 60 mins, unless recurrence of the hamstring problem strikes.

I know that this has no doubt been said a hundred times in previous comments but the news that Cesc probably won't play is yet another example of how simply brilliant Wenger is at giving out injury information. How many times has a player been out for 'a couple of days or weeks' and it end up being months... Cesc was 50-50 last gameweek and yet he's suddenly still 'very short' of fitness a fortnight later. Absolutely pointless listening to anything Wenger says regarding injuries.

Having said all that thank feck I didn't draft Cesc in this week. Makes my decisions this week much easier... except who to captain!

It's pretty standard isn't it JWF, 2 weeks out means 4, and 4 weeks means 8, that's Wenger for you and his cotton wool syndrome. We've know this for years but the penny still hasn't dropped for some.

Attila, why not use your Wild Card now?

1.) It will save you the 4 point hit.

2.) It will recover the Fabregas transfer as you can undo it.

3.) It doesn't matter that you've lost the opportunity to make a bit of dosh over the last two weeks, as this period between GW7 and GW8 hasn't been that great for making cash anyway, and there are probably a few Wild Carders out there that are slightly disappointed with how much money they have made.

T'would seem like an incredibly rash move to use a wildcard to save a 4 point hit. I'm still not panicking over Fabregas, when it gets to Saturday morning and it becomes definitive he will not play then I would consider putting Routledge in instead of him.
Plus the wildcard is one of the most potent tools we can use in FF, not to be lobbed away willy nilly. I won't use mine until I am forced to by injuries or massive drops in form.
In addition to all of that then there is the question of Frank Lampard returning, using a wildcard before he returns to form is akin to a general committing all his reserves while ignoring the 20,000 enemy at his back.
All in all mate I'd rather keep it for the moment.

Righty ho then, Fabs in next week but Wildcarding this week.

    Current WC Team:
    Foster (Gilks)
    Cashley, Coleman, Alcaraz, Elmo, Jara
    Malouda, vdv, Nani, Albrighton, Etherington
    Drogba, Tevez, Odem
2.1 in the bank and can't get Fabs without lots of transfers.

    Possible new WC Team:
    Foster (KRUL)
    KOLAROV, (SIMPSON), Alcaraz, Elmo, Jara
    Malouda, vdv, Nani,NASRI, ADAM
    Drogba, BERBATOV, (VARNEY)
4.9 in the bank (enough for Fabs & 0.4)

Please rate my new team.....anywhere I can spend that extra 0.4m? (though I do prefer having cash in the bank)

GW8: Alex, Bale => Elmo, Nani (first 4 pt hit…)
    GW9: Davies => Adam/N’Zogbia
    GW10: Gerrard => Fabregas

Some red card/injury will surely change everything haha, but what do you all think (especially the GW8 transfers)?

So you didn't bring Fabregas in? Boring.

Probably..... According to sparticas Liverpool are lining up like:

              Reina
              GJ Carra Skrtel Konchesky
              Meireles Lucas Poulsen Cole
              Gerrard
              Torres

So Gerrard will be back behind Torres, and Webb is reffing so Liverpool are guaranteed to get a penalty at some stage!

Fancy taking a bit of a risk... The risk being that Malouda starts vs Wolves and rips it up.

                  Chillax you enormous spazzer. 😀

To be fair, some guy - evilfuk I think - was talking about how you and Chill Pill were saying that he should just do the Gerrard > Fabregas switch now.. So I, perfectly reasonably IMO, concluded that you had transferred Fabs in early.....

Yah Meireles has played a couple of games on the right now, and it doesn't work at all...

Evilfuk is another yoof, therefore not to be trusted. Although i did tell him i was 99.99% sure Fabs would start, but that was based on info prior to the evil professors press conf. I reckon Wenger is telling porkies though, fabs will prob play but meh, not worth the risk now.

AP, I'm 27 and not a 'yoof' as you so describe. Perhaps my unwillingness to correct my spelling and grammar has led you to that conclusion.

I got a kick out of the fracas this morning as I was trying to be helpful and getting criticised unneccesarily. Vodka was a factor also 🙂

In case it wasn't obvious from that, I'm getting Nani in - and giving him the armband - whatever happens.. I just need to decide who out of Malouda and Gerrard gets the boot, in the knowledge that the one who stays will go for Fabregas in week 10 anyway...

Will probably keep Gerrard and pray to god that we go with Kalou Drogba Anelka against Wolves!
