Carlo Ancelotti has once again taken the step to name his lineup in advance for a Premier League game and the headline news is that Didier Drogba is not in the side.

According to the Chelsea boss Drogba was taken ill this week and was not able to train, ruling him out of the trip to Villa…

“Drogba had a fever this week and was not able to train, he started today but is not fit. He took antibiotics in the last days and needs to train next week and I’ll know if he is available for the game in the Champions League.”

This is obviously huge news for Fantasy Managers with Drogba owned by almost 50% of Fantasy Premier League game. Given the nature of his absence and his FPL price rise, it seems likely that many Fantasy Managers will look to bench the striker – it’s one of those occasions the where the strength of the bench is out to the test and this could well be a significant Gameweek in the Fantasy season as a result.

The loss of Drogba opens the way for Gael Kakuta to come into the side – that presents a very intriguing option given that the 19-year old is classed as a 5.4 midfielder in the FPL. We may see some opportunist Fantasy Managers gamble on his differential, although the trip to Villa is hardly an easy fixture to rely on such a short-term gamble.

Elsewhere in the Chelsea lineup we have it confirmed that John Terry is fit and available to take his place alongside Ivanovic; that allows Paulo Ferreira to come in at right-back. Frank Lampard is not available however with Ancelotti stating that he needs more time to recover from an adductor injury…

“[Lampard] is getting better but he needs to have some weeks again, maybe two weeks to be fit 100 percent, he had a problem on his adductor and we have to pay attention. He is working individually and needs two weeks again.”

Ancelotti’s lineup is confirmed as – Cech, Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Ramires, Essien, Mikel; Kakuta, Malouda, Anelka.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I know gents, but this is what makes or breaks your season, these kind of ddecisions. Im on my wildcard aswell, so its easier for me. Rooney was shite for endgland, YES, but, ye gotta grab the bull by the horns- no odemwingie means alot of defensive effort for wba too, rooney on penalties, he NEEDS to get on the mark, in a few games he's had some very close wides, and playing for you united he has nani and scholes behind him, for england, he has misfiring tactics, and a lump called Barry.

Follow me my merry men, as the pied piper leads you to glory! 🙂

Wildcard peeps maybe but swapping him for Drogba is a no no for me. Would lose a small fortune on Drogs plus i'll just want him back again as soon as he's fit (especially if that's Wolves at home next GW!)

Everyone was saying the same last season before he played Pompey away but it is all about getting the timing right on these big players. People who captained him for that one would have gained 40 points. With so few strikers of interest this weekend, it is a good time to take a chance on him.

You could say the same about captaining someone like Charlie Adam on a good day where he gets a massive amount of points. Hindsight will tell you afterwards it was a good idea, but the reality is different.

What a terrible comparison. Charlie Adam is hardly proven at this level yet and is never a player you would risk making captain. Rooney is very capable of exploding against West Brom, even if not at his best.

Rooney still picked up 10 points against west ham despite beiong average.

They havnt been seeing eye to eye on this 'injury'. With Owen and Berba being rested throughout the international break it is a slight concern. Fergie could think the same about the CL game mid week for Rooney to get off the mark. Berba is a certain starter, but i want Rooney. Sat morning call i reckon.

I think Ferguson is a fair but tough manager, it would surprise me in the slightest to see Rooney on the bench at the weekend in a "please don't come out against me in the papers again Wayne, you little rapscallion" move.

Yes, it is a good chance to get a goal, but he has had a few good games to get "that goal". Fergie has faith in Rooney ya, so in a show of his position as manager, he could bench Rooney and still play him next week, where his faith will still remain.

            Fingers crossed RBJ

Over a 3rd of my budget on the bench - £34mil. Hopefully Nani does it all for me as my Captain choice. I'm expecting to drop rankings this week from 3,700 to around 10,000 overall.

walcott was on fire at the start of the season and lamps will soon be back to his best. Plus you save £3m with those 2. malouda could start to be rotated in favour of kalou. Its not a joke, just toying with the idea and wanted to see what everyone else thought...

Blackpool are so open at home it's amazing. They have conceded 2 to both Fulham and Rovers and neither are exactly prolific on their travels!! Tevez could easily end up with 15+ points imo

I was faced with the same choice at the beginning of the week, junked it, but have now resurrected it owing to the Fab/Drog/Alcaraz debacle. I've been fiddling with the members stats(Oo-er!) and am going for O'Shea. A certain Mr. Partridge has still got him in his team, too ... hope that's a help! 🙂

i was listening to an interesting radio story last night on Pienaar on the radio- basically i agreed with the presenter that he was shit, but the journo (shit, cant remember his name, some famous english euro-football journo) was talking about him like he was god. Said he was the gem in the ajax team that came so agonisingly close- forgetting about the likes of van der vaart etc... Guy was totally wrong i reckon , Pienaar is f**kin crap as i see it.

ANYWAY, they were saying that alot of Euro clubs want him, and how Rafa wanted him, But, that Everton now will not make a penny on him because he'll go for free because they screwed up the contract negotiations, and underestimated the demand for him on the continent (blind idiots, as i said i reckon)

This being said,I RECKON that Coleman MAY, i say MAY, not have too much hassle holding down the spot on the team, now that Everton dont really have to play a player thats gonna go anyway, and that they dont seem to want (rightly so), and that they will have more interest in getting Coleman confident and secure. At least, that's my take on the whole thing. They didnt really mention Coleman throughout the interview, but that was what i drew from it, and by golly, i think i'm right.

Feedback or suggestuions for transfers. If it's feedback then why? You just want someone to say yeah it's a nice team?

      .....Yeah it's a nice team

Gerard to Fabs next week or the week after.

Maybe look to remove the double up on Man City defence. maybe free some more funds and get Coleman in
