Rooney hysteria is in full effect following this afternoon’s press conference from Alex Ferguson in which he confirmed that the striker wants out of Old Trafford. Ferguson revealed that he was left “dumbfounded” by the player’s intent to leave the club and went on to lay the situation bare for press and fans alike. You can read a comprehensive transcript of the conference on United’s official site.

For Fantasy Managers it’s another twist in a season which has already many of the so-called heavy hitters stall and disappoint. While Rooney has struggled to find a semblance of last season’s devastating form, the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard have all failed to ignite, hampered by injuries and remnants of World Cup hangovers.

The situation with Rooney may change and he may yet prove to be an asset before his time at United comes to an end. Right now however, that seems unlikely. There is clearly tension between player and manager and Rooney’s displays to this point are a world away from last season’s showings.

Ferguson has stressed that the door of negotiation remains open, but in reality it appears that United will look to offload Rooney in January before his value diminishes. Just what he can produce in their colours up to that point is up for debate, there are already unfounded reports that Ferguson will leave Rooney out of his side from this point on.

In Fantasy terms he certainly looks set to remain an outcast. In a season where Didier Drogba and Carlos Tevez have stepped up and maintained their strong return rate, Rooney will surely remain on the periphery of our thinking. In many ways Fantasy Managers will be looking for his form to remain dipped in order to allow the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and perhaps even Javier Hernandez further opportunity to flourish.

To compound matters, Ferguson also confirmed that Rooney will not take any part in United’s Champions League tie with Bursaspor on Wednesday after being stretchered off with an ankle injury in training today. That setback, coupled with today’s revelations surely puts Rooney down as a major doubt to start at the Britannia this weekend. The Berbatov/Hernandez partnership could well be in force again then. It will be interesting to see just how today’s developments affect United as a club and in turn, whether this casts a huge cloud over their title credentials and their value as a source of Fantasy talent.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

yea kinda hoping if Ireland would hit form and be sneaky on a fairly decent team
is it better to go with etherington nzogbia or brunt?

Do u think it would be better to have tevez nzogbia and gouhari(bench player) instead of van persie ireland and coleman(bench player)

    Team at the moment:

    Foster/Krul
    ACole/OShea/ShawX/ElMo/Coleman
    Malouda/Etherington/Adam/Bale/VdV
    Drogba/Tevez/Elmander

Over the next 2 weeks I will be looking to get Cesc in, really the only way I can see doing it is getting rid of Bale for say, Brunt or NZog and then Malouda -> Cesc (I have .9 in the bank)

Any other ideas on how to get there? Don't realllllly want to get rid of Bale, but I can see that having 2 Spurs in there probably isnt the way to go.

    Thoughts?

I reckon A Cole is a required player this year. The clean sheets combined with his ridiculous attacking intent auger well for a _lot_ of points I reckon.

In the Champions League game, is it worth it to change out your captain if he got 9 points (x2)? I had Ronaldo for the first day and still have Nani, Huntelaar, Gourcuff, and three defenders that I could give the arm band to.

      i ditched bale for vdv
spurs got everton home (tough defence) then man u away (!)
you could lose on bale if you sit on him and miss the boat on a price rise for zog as well
Adam is def worth a shout too
Im thinkin zog myself in for Barton
Im sticking with malouda though coz he seems to be involved around the goal a lot still
oshea to mummy not bad but maybe coleman instead

Also looking at Bale out for Adam / Nzog.
        Torn between Malouda / Fab
Oshea to Mummy was just to clear enough cash for Fab (although I do also want Mummy back) and I already have Coleman.

Maybe just Bale for Nzog this week and play it by ear, Fabs will probably get injured again anyway

I think Nzog is a good get as he's cheap and productive.

You'd save some money with getting in Mummy and he offers better attacking returns, but Sunderland fixtures difficult.

I'm in the same boat concerning Malouda > Fab. Malouda has been so on this season that I'm wary to just switch him to Fabregas who hasn't really done that much. I did some simple math and Fabregas gets 1 point every 9.72 minutes, and Malouda 1 point every 10.81 minutes. So, not sold on that just yet.

I asked the same question many times here last week to no reply
Was wondering if he gets up the pitch a bit
He's the ex ManU Simpson I think so he might have form
At 3.9 and a supposed starter from last year, he's going into my team sometime soon
Wait and see after Hammers AWAY i reckon
Sunderland at home following week might be the time
Lots of people might need him in to fund Fabs in wk 10

Hi Neo. Did you go on holiday? Nothing new other than Rooney burning his bridges at ManU.

That's sums up why Ronney had been inj so much at the start of this season, another star bust-up with Fergie wonder what Rooney will do if Fergie kicking things to his face like he did with Beckham?

Just off to Koh chang Island, south west of Thailand , just about 5 hrs drive from Bangkok. It was great except it rains half of my time there 🙁 but I get to have lots of rest and peace on mind .Here is web page of where I went (just in case you can make your trip to Far East) http://iamkohchang.com/

If you've been to Phuket, i would say that the water are not as blueish and the sand are not as white, but the room rates and food are much better. You can enjoy a full day of snoggling (if the weather allowed) with half the price you pay in Phuket too.

He did not play in Russia last night. It could mean good or bad news I suppose. Wait for Carlo's press conference later this week.

What is worrying is that Malouda played last night. It coule mean he is rested vs Wolves. And with Drogba inj....it could mean i dont have any Chelsea players this week vs Wolves!

    my current team stands as
    carson, foster
    alex, faye, oshea, elmo, williamson
    malouda, nani, bale, adam, barton
    drogs, carroll, berba

    with 6.1mil in bank.

i'm thinking of doing barton to zogbia and bale to fab for a 4 points hit this week.

thinking of shipping out faye for coleman too. but i don't think it's worth the 8 points hit but coleman is gonna increase soon!

Just do Barton > N'Zog, there's no point in spending 4ph on the Bale > Fabs transfer. To be honest, Bale could easily outscore Fabs this GW anyway.

I need to free up money for fabregas and want to do it by re-ordering my defense.

    P. Jones > Coleman, and ShawX > 4.5 defender, but WHO?

    ideas on best 4.5 defenders...

Hi Abraham, very Afrikaans/SA name you have!

Anyway, personally I would sell Oshea/Konchesky. Both clubs are in "turmoil" and not keeping CS.

      I'll hang on to Jones.

Why would you get rid of Jones when you have Konchesky and O'Shea?

If you're trying to save money, get rid of them first.

        @inalize...you're right! well spotted.

you guys have a good point. i guess i was hoping o'shea will come right, and same thing for konchesky. also, blackburn and stoke defense has been disappointing.

how about o'shea > coleman this week, then malouda > fabs next week?

just realised something. there are so many players i want at any given time and and so many different combinations that it's impossible to fit them all in without droppin points week in week out. if i just concentrate on using my one free transfer a week and think of that as all that i can do and not worry bout other players it makes things a lot easier. for everyone addicted to hits just pretend the game allows u to use only one transfer(Max 2) and stop fiddlin with ur team on the transfer page.. the trick is no one is happy with their team and EVERYONE wants a player they dont have.. so even though say u cant afford a player(in my case tevez) remember that other teams wont have players u have(my case berbs and arteta).. so holdin onto ur players and not making hits is the way to go..

Considered points hits have worked out ok for me this season - i think as long as you think through mid-term and don't chase points or changes just to bring someone in it can work... with a bit of luck. Makes it more fun anyway

My creaky defence is on its last legs. I know I need to fix it but would mean losing a bit of momentum. My real struggle is whether to go for the awesome midfield (fabs, nani, malouda, vdv) or the top front three (drogs, berbs, tevez) meaning malouda gets swapped for fabs and I don't have both.

I just wonder if hernandez is the solution but surely Wayne won't end up in reserves for three months... will he?

    Dear FPL peeps,

Please advise I'm rubbish at football, I'm moody, temperamental, I'm ugly with funny sticky-out ears and piggy eyes and I've got a funny accent ... if that's not bad enough... I recently got caught in the bog doing things I shouldn't and now everyone hates me.

I also keep getting into serious trouble with the wife but although she has forgiven me and moved back with my son - the trouble is, the pressure is just getting too much for me - I have therefore decided to leave this place I once called home, because no matter where I go - I keep getting hassle from the tabloids. They are following me everywhere I go - as they keep mistaking me for this footballer in England. Yours sincerely, Shrek.

Nasri seems to be the best Arsenal player so far.

Would it be too much to have both of him and Cesc in same team from GW 10-11 ? What do you think ?

I read the other day that Mourinho was willing to do Benzema and Diarra + cash to get Rooney, I'd probably take your arm off for that. Could use the extra cash to maybe go for someone like Dzeko(Wolfsburg) or Suarez(Ajax) who Utd are reportedly interested in anyway.

It wouldn't be up to United if Rooney didn't want to go abroad, they don't have the power to dictate this transfer.

He's going to Citeh, 100% sure of it. It all makes sense now. He doesn't want to live in Spain, it's not for him. The fall out will be immense, it will make the Campbell Spurs to Arsenal transfer seem like a game of conkers.
