The results for the first round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, are in. As expected, 256 Fantasy Managers are through to the second round, and 256 are not. You can check out each and every result right here. For a brief round-up of some of the key fixtures, read on…

The highest aggregate scoring tie of the round was beeduybe‘s 87 – 76 win over houghmagandie. That fantastic score of 87 cannot be matched by any of the other competitors, and that earns beeduybe a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power. With a score of 76, houghmagandie has the misfortune of being the highest-scoring Fantasy Manager to be knocked out this round.

With slightly more fortune this week, RishiS had one of the lowest scores of the round but still progressed, as he edged out R2Carroll 39 – 38 in a remarkably low-scoring tie.

The wooden spoon award for the week goes to Fin, who looks like he’s had the worst week of his Fantasy career in his 54 – 24 loss to jamlove. The scars from this heavy loss will take a while to heal, as he plummets from the top 16k to a six-figure ranking.

That massive win for jamlove wasn’t the widest margin of victory in the round however, it was Jenno99‘s 73 – 27 crushing of SiKick, putting a whopping 46 points between them.

There were 14 ties won by a single point, including Mark‘s match against tippman. Going into the Monday night game with a comfortable lead and a player remaining, it was almost unfathomable that Mark would not progress. However with Chris Samba costing him two points on the night, and Kevin Davies being stripped of his assist, Mark, incredibly, ended up losing. Unlucky.

Unable to separate themselves over the weekend, eight Fantasy Managers had their cup fate decided on overall rank. Peter, Pieman, john_crichton and melj79 eliminated Lew, Scratch, garrydoherty84 and ini to xav as a result of their superior ranking.

Our former champions both powered through to round two with convincing wins. FFS Cup I winner donnellyc dispatched billywhizz 69 – 58, and FFS Cup II champion Jonty proved being good is better than being lucky as he thrashed Lucky_2010 61 – 43.

The number of contributors left in the competition has halved to three. Mark (see above), greek fan (chipsngravey 64 – 41) and I’m Not Marshal Foch (Twisted Saltergater 72 – 69) all bit the dust this week, leaving just myself (emperikal 64 – 50), Pure Olivia (acrascall 71 – 67) and Granville (Bob 82 – 54) flying the flag.

Elsewhere, in some of the fixtures I highlighted in the round one draw, Waldaz saw off JamsieP 51 – 44, alang eliminated Dick Fran Dyke 69 – 64 in a competitive fixture, and greghammer95 hammered The Sting 73 – 55.

Two Fantasy Managers that weren’t expecting to be part of the second round were Roger C and TorresMagic, but after their opponents broke team entry rules they have both been given a passage into the next round at their expense.

So congratulations to the 256 fantasy mangers in the hat for round two, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage. The draw for the second round will be made and published on the site tomorrow.

Just heard the head of MUST on 5 live- he's milking the tits off this rooney story in order to get some momentum going...

Not sure I'm entirely with him on this particular issue TBH (although obviously in general he's right about the club's situation)

ya, i think it's definitely going to put huge pressure on the glazers now if we lose the likes of rooney because of us not being able to continue to afford world class players in order to compete. i think they have a valid point here and i was actually afraid going into this season that we wouldn't be able to sustain the same competitive edge that we've always had in the past since we didn't make any major signings, particularly in the midfield role.

I fancy him but I have bigger problems in my defence and I also want to get Fabs in next week and apart from that I quite want Brunt and/or Adam, and I've started to dream about a front line of Drogba-Berba-Tevez.

I want too many players this season, which sucks. Booh.

Might as well, with Samba banned if the rest of your team looks decent I'd do it. Coleman may only have a few games left before being replaced but then again if he keeps proving himself he could stay if Moyes decides he's strong.

Can I ask, if the price of a player goes down and you have him, does your price on him also go down? ie Yaya Toure is 5.5m to buy in and I also have him at that price on my team.

If he goes down to 5.4, will my value for him also go down to 5.4?

I'm thinking of selling Malouda and Carroll. Now the only problem with that is I got them both at the start of the season. I will therefore lose a lot of value...do I need to consider this or ignore value and just do what I think is best for my team?

I've got same dilemma as you with Malouda currently 0;8 higher than when I bought him.

Will do straight swap to Fabregas after the Saturday deadline in hope Fabs does well and he'll rocket in price during the week.

You are only losing the value if you want them back. If you've had them since the start, they've gone up and you don't want them again then you've made money.

you don't really lose anything unless you want the same players back someday and they don't drop in price.

if Malouda goes up 0.6 and you sell him, you get to keep 0.3 that you can use the rest of the season anywhere you want. That other 0.3 is just sort of a fake # that inflates your team value but can't really be used by you

Right guys, currently 8th overall in Champ League with Fabs currently capt on 8pts x 2. Got Messi, Eto'o, Bastos and Pablo coming off bench. My first instinct is to capt Messi(he is Messi) but Kobehavn haven't conceded as yet. Eto'o could cause the spurs defence some problems and I fear Valencia will run over Rangers.

well if Messi or Eto get 1 goal it's 6pts x2...if they get 2 its 10 pts x2

      Dempsey/Bale to Adam or Brunt?
      Torres to Tevez or Berbatov?

Dempsey has a couple of nice fixtures coming up and Torres has Blackburn at home so would be a little foolish to take him out. Bale would be the one to take out I suppose, reluctant though, he also has nice fixtures coming up after Man Utd.

No save your transfer. Torres has a better fixture then both Tevez and Berbatov. Inter just scored, delightful 😀

    Hart.
    Dann, El-Becks, Faye, Perch, Jara
    Malouda, Nani, Cesc, N'Zogbia, Ferguson
    Tevez, Drogba, Carroll

Anyone see a way of upgrading ferguson as i want to have someone to rotate with N'Zog and the 3rd striker, was thinking Carroll to DJ and Ferguson to Adam but that would be doubling up on Blackpool, any ideas?

Hi - I posted this earlier and got 2 very different views - please let me have any thoughts as I have a really itchy WC finger (and yes, it's not pretty)

Am thinking of playing WC for this team
    Robinson /Mignolet
    Bosingwa/Coleman/Elmohamady/Jara/Simpson
    Fabregas/Van der Vaart/Nani/N'Zogbia/Albrighton
    Drogba/Berbatov/Tevez

My main issue in fact is whether it's sensible to WC now or hold on (my current team is linked and is not too bad at mo although plenty I'd like to do). If I wait, I suspect I'll never be able to afford the proposed WC team given
    price rises etc

    Do you think it's worth:

    1. doing WC now
    2. holding on to WC

Its a good team but i would hold off until there is a GW with better fixtures

Amazing team. How did you afford it? Wouldn't change it. Can you have a look at mine?

        0.7 mill in bank

        Foster, Carson,
        mummy, o’shea, l young, Coleman,crainey
        Malouda, vdv, gerard, nani, albrighton
        Drogs, carroll, chamakh

I’ve used transfer. Prob taking 4pt hit for Gerard/fab.
        Can’t really afford tevez.
But I could buy either Adam of n’zogbia for albrighton if downgrade a defender, say l young to dann

I'm no expert (my 1st year of doing this) but I'd wait until next week for Gerrard to Fabs (you've got spare cash for price rises) and if you really want to take 4 point hit, I'd think about Carroll to Elmander - again you can afford it and I can't see Carroll starting and doing well this week given all that's going on and so can only see his value dropping (but then that might not give you enough for Fabs?). Like I say, probably no help at all!

Thanks. Oh right, that's your potential WC team. Do it. It's an amazing team.

Purely a personal opinion, but I like that squad a lot. Therefore I'd be seriously tempted to do it.
