The results for the first round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, are in. As expected, 256 Fantasy Managers are through to the second round, and 256 are not. You can check out each and every result right here. For a brief round-up of some of the key fixtures, read on…

The highest aggregate scoring tie of the round was beeduybe‘s 87 – 76 win over houghmagandie. That fantastic score of 87 cannot be matched by any of the other competitors, and that earns beeduybe a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power. With a score of 76, houghmagandie has the misfortune of being the highest-scoring Fantasy Manager to be knocked out this round.

With slightly more fortune this week, RishiS had one of the lowest scores of the round but still progressed, as he edged out R2Carroll 39 – 38 in a remarkably low-scoring tie.

The wooden spoon award for the week goes to Fin, who looks like he’s had the worst week of his Fantasy career in his 54 – 24 loss to jamlove. The scars from this heavy loss will take a while to heal, as he plummets from the top 16k to a six-figure ranking.

That massive win for jamlove wasn’t the widest margin of victory in the round however, it was Jenno99‘s 73 – 27 crushing of SiKick, putting a whopping 46 points between them.

There were 14 ties won by a single point, including Mark‘s match against tippman. Going into the Monday night game with a comfortable lead and a player remaining, it was almost unfathomable that Mark would not progress. However with Chris Samba costing him two points on the night, and Kevin Davies being stripped of his assist, Mark, incredibly, ended up losing. Unlucky.

Unable to separate themselves over the weekend, eight Fantasy Managers had their cup fate decided on overall rank. Peter, Pieman, john_crichton and melj79 eliminated Lew, Scratch, garrydoherty84 and ini to xav as a result of their superior ranking.

Our former champions both powered through to round two with convincing wins. FFS Cup I winner donnellyc dispatched billywhizz 69 – 58, and FFS Cup II champion Jonty proved being good is better than being lucky as he thrashed Lucky_2010 61 – 43.

The number of contributors left in the competition has halved to three. Mark (see above), greek fan (chipsngravey 64 – 41) and I’m Not Marshal Foch (Twisted Saltergater 72 – 69) all bit the dust this week, leaving just myself (emperikal 64 – 50), Pure Olivia (acrascall 71 – 67) and Granville (Bob 82 – 54) flying the flag.

Elsewhere, in some of the fixtures I highlighted in the round one draw, Waldaz saw off JamsieP 51 – 44, alang eliminated Dick Fran Dyke 69 – 64 in a competitive fixture, and greghammer95 hammered The Sting 73 – 55.

Two Fantasy Managers that weren’t expecting to be part of the second round were Roger C and TorresMagic, but after their opponents broke team entry rules they have both been given a passage into the next round at their expense.

So congratulations to the 256 fantasy mangers in the hat for round two, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage. The draw for the second round will be made and published on the site tomorrow.

Ha, Bloumin' Tottenham fan I was talking to said they would win 3-1 there, bloody idiot, shows how much he knows about football ay? Come on score over 5 goals Inter, that would make my day.

Again, that's not relevant. If he's born in the area and his family support their local team, then supporting them is not a choice, it's just his team.

I was born a West Ham fan, quite literally, and wouldn't think of supporting another team, I am not a die hard fan but will always be a west ham fan. One day will come where I am not that bothered really and become a fan of football. But will never support another team.

Goals for Messi, Fabregas, Ronaldo, and a haul for Eto'o means this UCL week will be very high scoring. Those lot will cover most captain choices.

Could need 60+ to stand still (unfortunately).

Eurgh... not much to say about it really. I took out players who had scored 0 and put in players who were almost certain to score 0.

The other league is a complete joke but I'll probably be bottom of that too soon.

MF seems to have gone AWOL and he'll still be miles ahead of me after tonight.

so it would take a hit next week or 2 but in two weeks this would be my optimal squad:

    Robinson (stockdale )

    Cole, Elmo, Coleman, Dann, Jara

    Fabregas, Nani, VDV, Adam, N'Zogbia

    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

as of now i have .3 left over after these moves so i think if i time it right should be able to cover a rise or two.

Leaving the squad would be malouda (someone has to go for Fabs, still have cole and drogba) Bale (VDV makes him somwhat redundant), Albrighton (too many risks), and Foley (who cares)

In comes Fabregas, Adam, Nzogbia, Elmo

How does this squad look? Maybe dembele for carroll down the road?

I doubt anyone going by the description on BBC site.

Nani turns, runs towards goal and curls in a 22-yard shot to put the hosts ahead in some style. That's a lovely goal from the Portuguese.

Help please - started well, now doing 'not so well'. Wildcard suggestion - Robin/Foster O'Shea/Toure/Elmoh/Terry/Salcido Y Toure/Nani/Albright/VDV/Barton Drogba/Carroll/Tevez. Is this a goer, or any alternatives? Cheers

Many thanks, guess I need to decide Alex Vs Toure; O'Shea Vs Jag Vs Adam; Walcott Vs VDV Vs Arteta Vs Nasri. Where would you go?

Macheda, time to make a statement sunshine, not be sh*t, which you currently are.

+1 kiko really hasn't kicked on at all since that goal against villa, performances for the reserves aside...

I'm more upset about Modric coming off instead of Jenas.

And Gomez has to take blame for that sending off - no need to come charging out like that.

Yup and he could've done better for the first goal when he half came, then stopped, then got beat.

Chalk this one up to experience and move on. I've got a ticket to the home fixture so they better buck their ideas up (and I do NOT want to see Jenas anywhere near the pitch in that game).

It's Everton on Saturday I'm worried about now. Major comedown. If I was Luka, I'd be banging on the manager's door tomorrow asking WFT is going on.

For long terms (will be playing WC)which are the better options?:

Robinson and Al-Habsi or Robinson and Mignolet

    Bosingwa or Kolarov

Rest of defence is Elmohamady, Coleman, Jara, Simpson

bosingwa and kolorov are both tempting but we need a few games yet to see if either will be regular starters. Im planning on bringing both in if they are. Bosingwa being first choice if hes a guaranteed starter..

Suggestion Sun will concede less than Wig.
Liked Kolarov when played against Spurs - got forward. Boswinga good a couple of years ago, will he constantly play? Any thoughts on my WC @ 8:27?

I like it - nice overall balance - not sure about O'Shea personally as I think MU going to concede a lot but v nice otherwise
