The results for the first round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, are in. As expected, 256 Fantasy Managers are through to the second round, and 256 are not. You can check out each and every result right here. For a brief round-up of some of the key fixtures, read on…

The highest aggregate scoring tie of the round was beeduybe‘s 87 – 76 win over houghmagandie. That fantastic score of 87 cannot be matched by any of the other competitors, and that earns beeduybe a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power. With a score of 76, houghmagandie has the misfortune of being the highest-scoring Fantasy Manager to be knocked out this round.

With slightly more fortune this week, RishiS had one of the lowest scores of the round but still progressed, as he edged out R2Carroll 39 – 38 in a remarkably low-scoring tie.

The wooden spoon award for the week goes to Fin, who looks like he’s had the worst week of his Fantasy career in his 54 – 24 loss to jamlove. The scars from this heavy loss will take a while to heal, as he plummets from the top 16k to a six-figure ranking.

That massive win for jamlove wasn’t the widest margin of victory in the round however, it was Jenno99‘s 73 – 27 crushing of SiKick, putting a whopping 46 points between them.

There were 14 ties won by a single point, including Mark‘s match against tippman. Going into the Monday night game with a comfortable lead and a player remaining, it was almost unfathomable that Mark would not progress. However with Chris Samba costing him two points on the night, and Kevin Davies being stripped of his assist, Mark, incredibly, ended up losing. Unlucky.

Unable to separate themselves over the weekend, eight Fantasy Managers had their cup fate decided on overall rank. Peter, Pieman, john_crichton and melj79 eliminated Lew, Scratch, garrydoherty84 and ini to xav as a result of their superior ranking.

Our former champions both powered through to round two with convincing wins. FFS Cup I winner donnellyc dispatched billywhizz 69 – 58, and FFS Cup II champion Jonty proved being good is better than being lucky as he thrashed Lucky_2010 61 – 43.

The number of contributors left in the competition has halved to three. Mark (see above), greek fan (chipsngravey 64 – 41) and I’m Not Marshal Foch (Twisted Saltergater 72 – 69) all bit the dust this week, leaving just myself (emperikal 64 – 50), Pure Olivia (acrascall 71 – 67) and Granville (Bob 82 – 54) flying the flag.

Elsewhere, in some of the fixtures I highlighted in the round one draw, Waldaz saw off JamsieP 51 – 44, alang eliminated Dick Fran Dyke 69 – 64 in a competitive fixture, and greghammer95 hammered The Sting 73 – 55.

Two Fantasy Managers that weren’t expecting to be part of the second round were Roger C and TorresMagic, but after their opponents broke team entry rules they have both been given a passage into the next round at their expense.

So congratulations to the 256 fantasy mangers in the hat for round two, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage. The draw for the second round will be made and published on the site tomorrow.

Should I drop Coleman, Robert Green, and Obinna just to force Berbatov into my lineup?

I would be replacing all three players with people who won't probably score at all...

And where's Attila tonight? I missed out on the discussion about hot presses earlier on 🙁

oh i was in on that, exciting stuff!i went and just stared at my hot press for about twenty minutes after!

think its unfair to call them all mediocre players, these young guys need to be blooded thru 1 or 2 at a time, throw them all on (with the reserves like carrick) and they will struggle

think ando has the ability, rafeal, and smalling

Very happy to be going through to the next round of the FFS Cup after trumping I'm Not Marshal Foch 🙂

I took a 4 point hit before the international break not realising GW8 was the Cup round, then discovered that INMF had played his wildcard!

It was in the bag really after the weekend, but the Sunderland result gave me a scare with INMF fielding 2 Sunderland defenders. Darren Bent failing to score sealed the victory in the end.

How unlucky were you, Mark?! Funny 'ol game eh?

This site is great in general. Only annoying thing is the worry that one tiny piece of news/team selection can cause on here. It really makes you wonder sometimes, for instance, all the Rooney saga last year. Tevez last GW. A.Cole a little this GW.

P.S: Its pronounced Nar-ni not Na-Ni, Akers you are the only person in this tiff, whose voice we might hear, just don't say Nani in the podcast if/when you are on it again.

Hello guys got 58 pts last week off this team
    Robinson
    Alcaraz Salcido Van Damme
    Adam Arshavin Nani(c) AJohnson Malouda
    Carroll Berbatov
    Subs- Carson Dann Jara Drogba
So was thinking this week of Dann and Arshavin out for Cashley and VDV for a 4pt hit. Any advice welcome

You need Fabregas for gameweek 10.

      That's priority.

Good. But I'd get rid of Van Damme ahead of Dann - can you still afford that?

Dann has good home fixture this week - Wolves have Shyte fixtures coming up

Ya can afford van damme ahead of dann. have 2.2 mil in bank to make tranfers this week. Reason being I was actually saving to get fabs in for arshavin next week

Ok I'll play Andy Goram for awhile and answer my own question. I think it's a great idea:
      a) Dann has tricky fixtures coming up
      b) Arshavin is like a yo-yo, form-wise (seriously wrecking my head)
      c) Cashley there for entire entire season and is about to rise again
      d) VDV same as Cashley except for rise tonight

The other results are all going my way. But 10 mins to go - plenty of time for all results to go tits up (except Spurs :P)

Kid needs games. I said before Welbeck went on loan that I'd much rather it was Macheda going out on loan than Danny (not to Sunderland mind).

I want to get rid of Bale soon enough. Can anyone offer me some decent options on who to replace him with? Arteta is risky. Cheers gents.
