Gameweek Nine saw 256 fantasy managers battle it out in the second round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Those involved surely know the outcome of their own fixture, so to see how everyone else faired this round click here.

If reading the results James Alexander Gordon-style isn’t for you, then read on for the round highlights. However, before I get onto listing the key outcomes, I have to bring you some tragic news… I am no longer involved in the competition, after a 51 – 40 robbery against JohnSteed01. A minutes silence will be observed before the round three fixtures.

One Fantasy Manager who might be able to get over that news is The Plutocrat who, after his 74 – 40 annihilation of timboeve (the widest margin of victory in the round), earns himself a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

Just missing out on the prize was rajmanutd who, along with chipsngravey (in a very northern outing), was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, as the former prevailed 70 – 59.

At the other end of the spectrum was billyboychrisd‘s 37 – 33 victory over dadoune. Which wasn’t the lowest score jammy enough to win this weekend however, CarlowsGalacticos‘ narrow 36 – 35 ousting of Dino wins that award.

That was one of eleven match-ups decided by a single point, which included greghammer95‘s 53 – 52 win over hello 911 it’s quagmire….

Three fixtures went down to the tie-breaker of overall rank, which saw bossdrum, Chris81 and targa eliminate Clive, Burton and Mattenue respectively.

Contrasting fortunes for our former champions sees donnellyc marching on, thanks to a 40 – 31 victory over ham5ter, and Jonty doing one, as a result of his 55 – 48 loss at the hands of Ann_der_roo.

Granville is now the only contributor to have a berth in the tournament, as he saw off wolves_simmo with ease 50 – 32, with Pure Olivia (46 – 40 Ty_Durden67) and I getting beat.

So now we are down to 128, just 10% of everyone who entered the competition. They will learn of their opponent on Thursday when the third round fixtures (to be played during GW10) will pop up on the site.

Well done to those awaiting that fixture list (not you JohnSteed01), and commiserations to everyone bowing out this time round (some with more grace than others).

Andy's Frisking fixture's attraction was Everton this week and I am seriously having thoughts of geting Arteta by relieving Malouda of duty for a timebeing which will also make a way to Fabregas and Konchesy will also have to sacrifice for Coleman.
Hey Camzy, is it wise to have Arteta off Malouda?? I can however make a way for fabregas by transferring Alex for 4.0 defender. Thoughts please.

I'm not really sure what you want.

You say you want Arteta and you want Fabs.

I'm presuming, that you want a midfield of Fabregas, Arteta, Nani, Van Der Vaart, Brunt right?

Arteta is a bit of an injury risk at the moment, so I would hold off getting him for one week to save on a hit.

      This week, do
Alex > 4.0 defender (Simpson, Tamas, Foley)
      Cole > Fabregas

Next week, if Arteta is fit, you can make the move and get him in for Malouda if you want. Mal should go up in price too. Be careful though, I only ditched Malouda because I had Drogba and A. Cole. The difference in value, and the fact that he costs 10.4 could really hurt if you want him back in.

Absolutely expert opinion Camzy, Arteta injury concern is holding me. ever since i made arteta to Cole move, it proved disaster to my team. I was waiting to get rid of my awful team with Cole in the centre midfield with some hopes of return from the ex chelsea winger. Fabs transfer in will be refreshing to me. once Malouda, he wont get a recall unless Chelsea start hammering oponent again. Feel they will go slow and professional now and in that case drogba should be enough for the job. Cheers.

I was hoping Malouda would rise first before trading him out for Fabs!

Quick RMT here for those kind enough

    Foster (Krul)
    Mummy, Samba, Coleman (Enrique, Jara)
    Malouda, Nani, VDV, Arteta, Barton
    Drogs, Tevez (Odem)
    1.9 in the bank

Do I have the Subs right?

Always play the home keeper unless they play ManUtd or Chelsea.

    Thinking of a knee-jerk:

    Foster(Krul)
    Salcido, Coleman, Elmo (Faye, Jara)
    Malouda, VdV, Nani, Etherington, Adam
    Drogs, Bent (Elmander)

Ethers -> Fab, then thinking Bent to Hernandez! Elmander good sub if Hernandez dropped for Rooney at any point?

At the start of the season many went with the Foster/ Jaask gk combo. In 2 gws these keepers stop rotating well at all.

what have those with this combo done/doing? Looking at how much better, and the price rise, from Foster I'm planning on selling Jaask. The 2 options I see that rotate home/away with Birmingham are Kruh and Al-Habsi.

I'm hesitant on Kruh because Harper will be back soon and I dont want to waste too many transfers on gks. Any thoughts?

Selling Malouda is very short sighted in my opinion. When Lampard returns, every other person in the league will have one of Malouda or Lampard, and as soon as they hit another 5 or 6 nil, you will be kicking yourself that you can no longer afford to get one of them.

Chelsea are so far ahead of every other side in the league this year, it is pretty much essential to have 3 of their players in your team. Malouda and Drogba stay for me, bye bye Berba

Good question! I don't, really, but I've made up my mind that I want to give it another try without Drogba and it would free up well needed cash to fund Arteta and Ashley Cole and further fix my lousy defence.

Basically I've started to doubt if he's good value for money at the price he's as now.

I think people with Drogba and Tevez looking at losing Drogs will likely also have Cashley and Malouda and probably figure that's all they need.

If I had enough money to downgrade Drogba to Torres and upgrade Bale to Fabs then I'd probably keep Malouda too.

My theory is that, if you want Chelsea midfield cover then Essien is a good replacement for Malouda. Again, I don't have enough for that move this week but it's one to consider.

I'm looking to see what Bos does as having him and Alex in my defence alongside Elmo would seemingly resolve a lot of my current defensive woes.

Yep - I'm thinking along the same lines. If I downgrade Drogba to Torres, I've got enough to upgrade Faye to Alex (sadly - not quite enough for Cashley, but I'm working on it!)

That would leave me Malouda and Alex as Chelsea cover, and Torres should still bang in a couple of goals now he's getting some confidence back.

Now, if I can only sort Fabregas...

Well, now. At £5.0m he may now be worth a punt as a 3rd striker.

He scored last night and Martinez sounds like he's still high on the lad.

Seems he needed some time to adjust to the English game and climate, which is understandable.

Strikers rely more on confidence than any other position player, so if his was low at the start of the season due to the above reasons then overcoming that was the first step.

With N'Zogbia back as well to provide him with service-something else that was lacking in his first few week at Wigan-you may find this is the point where his career takes off.

I'm not saying to form an orderly queue yet, but don't just dismiss him totally because many on here got burned early on by him.

From the looks of your defence, you have the same problem as me - none of them seem guaranteed a clean sheet this week.

If you think Chelsea won't let any in, it's worth it. I'm thinking about Bosingwa too to boost my CS chances...

my only concern is; will he play? or will Ancelotti match him lightly in the start since he's been out for so long. I'm neither a huge fan of hits, but I can't stand having to buy Bosingwa after the deadline for .2 more than he's worth now.....and then probably with a cs against Blackburn.

Right - anyone fancy getting me past the cold feet stage?

Getting rid of Drogba frees up cash to upgrade defence.

    A. Drogba -> Torres? (=Faye -> Bosingwa)
    B. Drogba -> Chamakh? (=Faye -> Cashley)

I'm tending towards B, but if Chamakh is a rotation risk, then Arsenal's favourable fixtures mean nothing. Equally, if Bosingwa is treated with kid gloves, I'm losing my Chelsea cover for nowt...

I know premiership football is a fickle business these days....but Tevez is as close as it gets to a fixture in the City line-up. Captain, talisman, penalty-taker, heartbeat. Mancini says he should be fit. I got burned by captaining him on Sunday, but I've been thankful that I did on many more occasions. Just sit tight.
