Gameweek Nine saw 256 fantasy managers battle it out in the second round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Those involved surely know the outcome of their own fixture, so to see how everyone else faired this round click here.

If reading the results James Alexander Gordon-style isn’t for you, then read on for the round highlights. However, before I get onto listing the key outcomes, I have to bring you some tragic news… I am no longer involved in the competition, after a 51 – 40 robbery against JohnSteed01. A minutes silence will be observed before the round three fixtures.

One Fantasy Manager who might be able to get over that news is The Plutocrat who, after his 74 – 40 annihilation of timboeve (the widest margin of victory in the round), earns himself a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

Just missing out on the prize was rajmanutd who, along with chipsngravey (in a very northern outing), was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, as the former prevailed 70 – 59.

At the other end of the spectrum was billyboychrisd‘s 37 – 33 victory over dadoune. Which wasn’t the lowest score jammy enough to win this weekend however, CarlowsGalacticos‘ narrow 36 – 35 ousting of Dino wins that award.

That was one of eleven match-ups decided by a single point, which included greghammer95‘s 53 – 52 win over hello 911 it’s quagmire….

Three fixtures went down to the tie-breaker of overall rank, which saw bossdrum, Chris81 and targa eliminate Clive, Burton and Mattenue respectively.

Contrasting fortunes for our former champions sees donnellyc marching on, thanks to a 40 – 31 victory over ham5ter, and Jonty doing one, as a result of his 55 – 48 loss at the hands of Ann_der_roo.

Granville is now the only contributor to have a berth in the tournament, as he saw off wolves_simmo with ease 50 – 32, with Pure Olivia (46 – 40 Ty_Durden67) and I getting beat.

So now we are down to 128, just 10% of everyone who entered the competition. They will learn of their opponent on Thursday when the third round fixtures (to be played during GW10) will pop up on the site.

Well done to those awaiting that fixture list (not you JohnSteed01), and commiserations to everyone bowing out this time round (some with more grace than others).

    I had a dream last night that Arteta was attacked by a ghost but went on to score against Blackpool. Does anyone know if he has been attacked by a ghost?

          I know, but I see it more as leaving me with one high scoring cheap midfielder and two nailed on 5-6pt midfielders that rotate perfectly. Ferguson at home - 2-3 bonus pts.

          Also its only for a couple of weeks when berbs and one of barton and Ferguson toddles off cheap striker and VDV/Arteta.

          that;s my thinking anyway...probably go the way of the pear tho'.

      Why get rid of Malouda?

      I am thinking the same move but trying to justify getting rid of Florent when he is in great form!

      Do you think he is due a rest?

      Berba & Malouda > Fab & Little P in!!

          Fab will get you more points over the season than Malouda (even if they match each other, you're more likely to captain Fab). Given that Mal is in 45% of teams and Fab less than 10%, there's so much more to gain by having Fab over Mal than Mal over Fab. Do it!

            Yes but having both ensures that you make a gain and don't lose that gain by Malouda wiping it out.

            Malouda has proved in the last 6 months that he is capable of big scores, not many players are in the game.

              That's the gamble. For someone in my position, having the same player as everyone above me is useless. If I do, at worst I'll stay the same and at best I'll stay the same. Getting rid of Malouda means at worst I'll drop behind and at best I'll catch up. I can't catch up by having a team of 30%+owned players as I do now.

              I'd probably see it differently if I was higher up of course. Either way, there's no reason not to steal a march on your rivals by getting in Fab this week- just depends on how your team is set up as to whether you can do it easily with or without losing Mal. In an ideal world you'd have both. But, I'd recommend taking the gamble if that's the only way of getting Fab as I think over the season you'd be better off.

                It's funny logic, it's like someone saying last year that there's no point in having Lampard because all the people above me have them. When in fact you had to have Lampard, it's in the smaller players you need to make the differentials.

                Anyone scoring consistently is worth having even if others have them.

    Me and Donna went to a secret bar! It was cool, I bumped into a friend I used to work with, and he took us there.

    There are no signs, the door only opens from the inside, and they don't let you in unless they know you, and it's like a cocktail bar with live Jazz.

              A bar is there to sell lovely stuff like beer and wine, available to all. If it's secret, there will be other stuff on the list, either immoral or illegal. If that's your bag - go to it! 🙂

                Ah, the only thing I could think of that it wasn't licensed. Which may be the case.

                But I think it's just an exclusive cocktail bar. The two bartenders there knew a few people I know, so I might ask them or something.

                But I don't think it's as bad as all that.

        I think i'm just swaying towards B - Nasri and Fabs could run riot over next 2 GWs - plan would then be:

        GW10: Malouda & Etherington/Bale -> Fabs & Nasri
        GW11: Etherington/Bale & Alex -> Arteta & Coleman
        GW12: Nasri & Nolan -> VDV & Morrison

        which would leave a starting 11 most weeks of

        Foster, Coleman, Jones, Williamson, Fabs, Nani, Arteta, VDV, Drog, Tevez, Carroll

        Sound ok?

    J Edgar Hoover left us with many lasting legacies, but the most ambitious, which never reached fruition, was the 'Squaring of the States'. The plan was to divert rivers and square off lakes until everything ran at right angles (including state boundaries). The obvious success stories were the eastern states such as Wyoming and Colorado, but Hoover passed away before the project could be completed.

            I think you will need Fabs as he will score big as long as he stays fit or you could think about losing malouda and getting a better striker as fixtures are getting difficult

        Any news on Arteta? He's beginning to frustrate the proverbial out of me.

        Current team:
        Hart (Foster)
        Konchesky | O'Shea | Elmo | Alcaraz | Jones
        Malouda | VdV | Nani | Davies | Barton
        Drogba | Tevez | Dembele

        Thinking of doing either:
        A.
        Davies -> Fabs
        O'Shea -> Simpson
        Hart -> Mignolet or similar cheapo

        or
        B.
        Davies -> Fabs
        Tevez -> Elmander, Obinna, Varney or simmilar cheapo

        Option A is an 8 point hit which ofcourse makes the baby-Jesus cry but I just dont like the idea of getting rid of Tevez with his upcoming fixtures.
        Now is Tevez injured it ofcourse changes things.

        Any genious advice?

            that thought has been looming, but I just cant help thinking that Nasri is good now, but that Fabs is good for the long run

        No hit, feels ok at the moment but will watch tonights games with a little trepidaton.

        with united having spurs villa and city in their next 4, anyone think its a good idea to get rid of nani, perhaps with a fabregas nasri midfield then work nani back in when nasri's fixtures get a bit tougher

        Foster // Gilks
        ACole // Vidic // Elmohamady // Foley // Gohouri
        Fabregas // Nani // Van der Vaart // Adam // Davies
        Drogba // Chamakh // Carroll

        I have one free transfer and only 0.1 in the bank. What to doooo?

          Is it ok to do just VdV->Nasri and avoid a points hit rather than give away 4 points to bring Fabs in?

            Are you planning on getting VDV back in at any point? It'll cost you, his price will keep going up.

                Yes,I know.That's why I think it's better to keep him and buy Fabs for a 4ph.

            here is a tricky one;

            who to bench this GW

            a - varney

            b - barton

            c- bale
