Gameweek Nine saw 256 fantasy managers battle it out in the second round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Those involved surely know the outcome of their own fixture, so to see how everyone else faired this round click here.

If reading the results James Alexander Gordon-style isn’t for you, then read on for the round highlights. However, before I get onto listing the key outcomes, I have to bring you some tragic news… I am no longer involved in the competition, after a 51 – 40 robbery against JohnSteed01. A minutes silence will be observed before the round three fixtures.

One Fantasy Manager who might be able to get over that news is The Plutocrat who, after his 74 – 40 annihilation of timboeve (the widest margin of victory in the round), earns himself a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

Just missing out on the prize was rajmanutd who, along with chipsngravey (in a very northern outing), was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, as the former prevailed 70 – 59.

At the other end of the spectrum was billyboychrisd‘s 37 – 33 victory over dadoune. Which wasn’t the lowest score jammy enough to win this weekend however, CarlowsGalacticos‘ narrow 36 – 35 ousting of Dino wins that award.

That was one of eleven match-ups decided by a single point, which included greghammer95‘s 53 – 52 win over hello 911 it’s quagmire….

Three fixtures went down to the tie-breaker of overall rank, which saw bossdrum, Chris81 and targa eliminate Clive, Burton and Mattenue respectively.

Contrasting fortunes for our former champions sees donnellyc marching on, thanks to a 40 – 31 victory over ham5ter, and Jonty doing one, as a result of his 55 – 48 loss at the hands of Ann_der_roo.

Granville is now the only contributor to have a berth in the tournament, as he saw off wolves_simmo with ease 50 – 32, with Pure Olivia (46 – 40 Ty_Durden67) and I getting beat.

So now we are down to 128, just 10% of everyone who entered the competition. They will learn of their opponent on Thursday when the third round fixtures (to be played during GW10) will pop up on the site.

Well done to those awaiting that fixture list (not you JohnSteed01), and commiserations to everyone bowing out this time round (some with more grace than others).

Thinking of choosing Dembele as my budget striker. So it would be Bale > Fabs and Torres > Dembele this week for a hit, would mean I'd have both him and Dempsey but I plan to get rid of Dempsey after their two home games anyway.

    Jussi
    Alex Coleman Elmo
    Nani Dempsey Fabs (c) Malouda
    Drogba Carroll Dembele

    Foster, N'Zog, Konchesky, Jara.

how important is it to have Fabregas in my team? I would have to get rid of either nasri or nani to fund a move for fabregas who I'd bring in for Malouda.

Malouda is playing awesome and so is Nasri and Nani. Do I need Fabregas yet?

the darkening is upon us, let all who be unholy transfer in boselli, and be cast down with the mennonites, and turn their back on the saviour jescus fabrecus. The dark one will run rampant sowing seeds of destruction in the Fulham rearguard, obliterating clean sheets with his shitty residue, own goals aplenty, assists apaucity, barren point returns shall lay waste to dimanche happiness, a festering foreboding will depend upon the land as the fabrecus returns one point for a 32 minute cameo cut short by the scithing wrath of the darkening's hammy. Woe will be all who gaze on the flint of the gunners, in anticipation of a conflagration, cathartic stagnation will be thy deathbed.

And Boselli, oh dark one, will fade into the shadows to a price of 4 million, and another season will be dashed upon the rocks of despair. And on the shoreline yonder a light will shine, one of teasing hope, but fading, as the nani hits a second, and a third...a new kingdom will be born, and the old feud will drag its protaganists to hell, from whence, never to return....

so eh, yeah lads, captain nani, fabs is gonna do fcuk all 🙂

    Night

    Foster Hahnemann
    Coleman Alex Bosingwa Konchesky Elmo
    Brunt VDV Fabs Nani Albrighton
    Tevez Drogba Varney

      Well I'd say you'd play:

      Foster
      Alex Bosingwa Elmo
      Brunt VDV Fabs Nani
      Tevez Drogba

      Leaves a rotation of:
Coleman Konchesky Albrighton Varney to throw in based on fix
      Sounds alright to me

Thinking of an alternative way to get Fab in:

    My original plan:
    Malouda > Fab
    P Jones > Simpson

    New alternatives:
    Barton > Fab

    Drogba > Elmander/Odemwingie/Dembele
    OR
    Tevez > Varney

Would leave a midfield of Adam/Malouda/Nani/Fabregas/VDV

Crazy, or is the original plan better? (both require 4 point hit)

That's some midfield... same as mine.

Only problem is nothing left for defense. Oh yeah, and no Drogs.

I'd keep Drogba over FloMo... always a starter and on pens. Also keep Tevez for the same reasons.

Just for accuracies sake, Drogs took the PK in GW2 8-0 win against Wigan. I remember thinking what a hog he was as Lamps watched.

To be fair though it may be safer to think of him more on direct free kicks.

I'm surprised bastion has so many more transfers in than cesc (74k to cesc's 16k). I know bastion has scored in his last 7 but a few of those were penalties, and cesc will be back on those. It always amazes me how short peoples memories are, when fabregas is fit he is up there with the best in the PL (drogba, gerrard, craddock 😉 )

And I know what you are going to say next but.craddock is still a doubt for the weekend. But as soon as he is fit he will be in. Did you know it wasn't video that killed the radio star, it was a host craddock sliding tackle.fact

Drogba has gone off the boil recently and I just have a feeling that cesc will do well. It's probably a bad assumption but speculation is exactly that

Yeah but you should have kept at least one of Malouda and Drogba.

They are the champions, and they can thump teams 4 or 5 nil home or away. Not having attackers from their team is foolish at best.

my crazy risk would be Bendtner instead, anyway you've done it or planning to do it is up to you, I never want to swap drogba for anyone unless unfit.

Sun Tzu wrote in his book the art of war; in order to stop jody craddock, you must become jody craddock. Jody has his own chapter
