Reports in Thursday’s press have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is out of the weekend trip to Wolves. The striker has been granted permission to return to Argentina to undergo a programme of rehabilitation ahead of the crucial derby clash with United in Gameweek 12, as fears mount concerning the injury sustained against Arsenal on Sunday.

Tevez was always a doubt for the weekend with a muscle injury sustained in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. It is now reported that the injury, initially thought to be a dead leg, could be a more serious setback. A report in the Daily Mail suggests that scans have revealed “severe swelling and internal bleeding around Tevez’s knee and thigh”. The report goes on to claim that the players has been told he will not be able to play for “about two weeks”. That would see Tevez miss the Gameweek 11 fixture with West Brom and remain a doubt for the United game as a result. As yet there is no confirmation of this from official City sources.

The striker’s return to Argentina comes following recent claims, including those of team-mate Roque Santa Cruz, which have stated that Tevez is homesick. It is thought that, in the light of the injury, City have taken steps to quell this issue by allowing the striker to spend time with his family whilst he manages his own return to fitness.

The news will come as a major blow to Tevez owners who have dramatically increased in numbers in recent weeks. Tevez topped the goalscoring charts going into Gameweek 9 and had seen over 200,000 new owners heading into the Arsenal fixture, having scored 5 goals in his previous 4 league starts.

His owners will now have to consider his prospects over the next two to three Gameweeks in the light of this news. Roberto Mancini will likely turn to Emmanuel Adebayor to lead the attack in the absence of his skipper, while Mario Balotelli is also an option having figured from the bench last weekend. Adebayor could now pick up some short-term Fantasy interest but it seems more likely that United’s pairing of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez will see a greater proportion of Tevez funds come their way. Hernandez’ run in the United lineup could well come to an end with Wayne Rooney’s expected return in a fortnight, which may coincide with a return to fitness for Tevez.

The other option than Tevez owners will now be considering is a move towards a cheaper alternative up front which would free up cash to recruit Cesc Fabregas in time for Arsenal’s Emirates clash with West Ham. We can certainly expect to see some major movement in the Fantasy markets in the next 48 hours and I suspect we will see points being spent by those who have already fluttered their Fantasy Premier League wildcards.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I love this site. As soon as a player plays well that’s it get him in. If he is has a bad run of 2 games or more get rid. If a player has been out injured then plays good in a cup game let’s all get him in. If a player is playing his first season and starts scoring than let’s get him in.
The problem is who for Fabs
Those who went Malouda (Not happy now)
The ones who when for Tevez (Happy now)
The one who are still debating? The answer is above. But
If you don’t have to that transfer switch WHAT DO YOU DO NOW TEVEZ IS OUT
One thing is for sure all the above on this site will have been talked about 200%

I defiantly don’t have a problem with the site you miss read what I say. Yes my score is not good but it’s my 1st season and I enjoy it. Reading what you all have to say i.e. the banter + serious stuff is most enjoyable and I know that next season the target I have to beat is the I make this season. Basically to cut to the chase all I want to know is what do I do with Tevez you hard baskets

should be a comma after legs

'I'm sure you may' - is incorrect. Think about it: I'm SURE you MAY

With the wealth of experience in here now, the Tevezgate:
What I would like to know is peoples opinion on his likely price changes in light of protection etc. I've never really studied it that closely before so I'm interested in this scenario
    I bought Tevez for 10.9
    He is now worth 11.0
    I sell him for 10.9
I cannot afford to resign for 11.0
Is he likely to drop in the next couple of weeks if the injury proves to be true? Or is the safer option to keep hold of the little orc? Now I know you cant possibly say for sure but I'm interested in any similar scenario's from the last season or so - basically would I be a tool to keep or a tool to bin?

so you have nothing in the bank atm? Thats tough. I think you gotta hold on to him. You cant drop someone else to make up the difference. say drop tevez now, save transfers so you have two in two weeks then get tevez back and find a slightly cheaper option at another position.

Yeah possibly, certainly going to be complicated. I'll hang on for the moment anyway until further clarification as to the likely extent of the injury. Gawd what an awful bad time to play the wildcard, obviously didn't sacrifice enough chickens/goats/red haired children to the FPL Gods. 😐

Depends on how long said news of Tvez's injury reaching those dogs at FFL towers, & the subsequent red flag.

Those Johnny come lately managers will dump him by the truckload. Which of course will be reflected by inevitable price drops.

Bottom line if you don't think you could afford to buy him back pretty boy, keep him.

I had RVP from the start last season, had he stayed fit he was definitely on course to top 200+ pts. He had a great, almost telepathic understanding with Fabregas in that each was quiet often instrumental in assisting the other. Just hope he can make a full recovery from his injuries and when he does he will be straight back into my team.

The game is crying out for an in-form Rooney, or Van Persie, even Jermaine Defoe for crying out loud. Things have gone so stale in the forward options I actually nearly considered bringing in Johan Elmander or Kevin Davies there a little while ago.

I guess the only sensible option is Yakubu then? Feed the Yak, feed the Yak, feed the Yak and he will score...two points 🙂

When is Van Persie expected to be back? Yes, I know there's the risk he will get injured AGAIN but at 9.5 for a world class striker and well proven fantasy player, he could be a bargain. I guess the negatives are the injury risks and the return of Fab, Bendtner and Walcott which could take points and minutes away from him.

Am I the only one who doubts Fabregas? He missed a penalty last week, didn't look his best, and may have to compete with Nasri, Walcott, etc?

      Yes.

Fabregas is the 'Lampard' or 'Gerrard' of Arsenal. If he's fit, he's in the side. When he come into the game today I think he had 2 assists, and was controlling the field!

    Should I:

    1) Go Malouda > Cesc (as originally planned)

    OR

    2) Tevez > Carroll/Varney/Odemwingie
    Etherington/Nzogbia > Fab

It would require a major shift in my strategy, but my thinking is I get to keep 2 top flight midfielders in Malouda + Fab, and would only have to really ever play 2 forwards, as my midfield would be stacked.

My preferred Option 2 would leave a final team of:

    Foster/Krul
    ACole/OShea/ShawX/ElMo/Coleman
    Fabregas/Malouda/VdV/Adam/Ether
    Drogba/ELmander/Carroll

    Thoughts?

    Tevez Berbatov Caroll
    2mil in bank

Ive decided im going to use the setback of Tevez's injury as an opertunity to change my stragedy. Transferring Tevez out frees up enough funds to swap Bale for Fabregas, allowing me to keep Nani and Malouda. Im quite liking these 3 in midfield! It also allows me to replace Tevez with an 8.5 striker. Chamack is really tempting givin the fixtures. Im i making any glaring mistakes??
    Team would be:
    Foster (Hahnemann)
    Toure, O'Shea, Coleman (Elmohamady, Jara)
    Nani, Fabregas, Malouda, N'Zogbia (Barton)
    Drogba, Chamakh, Carroll

Hmmm, already made my free transfer this week so team is

Foster, Jaask, Alex, Jones, Williamson, Foley, Jara, Nasri, Malouda, Nani, Bale, Nolan, Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

Initial plan for later this week was Malouda -> Fabs (4 point hit) but considering:

Bale & Tevez -> Fabs & Hernandez (8 point hit)

Which is better? Any other transfers out there that are better?

GW12: Hernandez, Nasri & Nolan -> VDV, Arteta & uber cheap striker

Got Tevez at 10.5 as well. Don't see any guys in the same price bracket I want, and it would cost me another four points anyway. Maybe this injury, resulting in a trip back home will do him good and he'll come back fresh and firing. Here's hoping.

But if he is out for more than this GW, I think he'll have to go
He'll drop at least 0.2-0.3 anyway so it won't be a huge deal trying to get him back.

Did two transfers yesterday just in case Fab wasn't protected:
    Malouda > Fabregas
    P Jones > Simpson

Now news that Tevez is missing possibly 3 games!
Maybe hold tight for this gameweek and play Barton in place of Tevez?

Really wish I had waited and now do Barton > Fabregas, Tevez > Odemwingie today! That way I would still have Malouda!

Just having a late night perusal of the anytime goalscorer odds at paddy power.

They still have Tevez down to play, so Adebayors odds on scoring are 2.6. I'm not sure those will be better than offered elsewhere, but they will certainly fall once PP get their sh*t together.
