Reports in Thursday’s press have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is out of the weekend trip to Wolves. The striker has been granted permission to return to Argentina to undergo a programme of rehabilitation ahead of the crucial derby clash with United in Gameweek 12, as fears mount concerning the injury sustained against Arsenal on Sunday.

Tevez was always a doubt for the weekend with a muscle injury sustained in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. It is now reported that the injury, initially thought to be a dead leg, could be a more serious setback. A report in the Daily Mail suggests that scans have revealed “severe swelling and internal bleeding around Tevez’s knee and thigh”. The report goes on to claim that the players has been told he will not be able to play for “about two weeks”. That would see Tevez miss the Gameweek 11 fixture with West Brom and remain a doubt for the United game as a result. As yet there is no confirmation of this from official City sources.

The striker’s return to Argentina comes following recent claims, including those of team-mate Roque Santa Cruz, which have stated that Tevez is homesick. It is thought that, in the light of the injury, City have taken steps to quell this issue by allowing the striker to spend time with his family whilst he manages his own return to fitness.

The news will come as a major blow to Tevez owners who have dramatically increased in numbers in recent weeks. Tevez topped the goalscoring charts going into Gameweek 9 and had seen over 200,000 new owners heading into the Arsenal fixture, having scored 5 goals in his previous 4 league starts.

His owners will now have to consider his prospects over the next two to three Gameweeks in the light of this news. Roberto Mancini will likely turn to Emmanuel Adebayor to lead the attack in the absence of his skipper, while Mario Balotelli is also an option having figured from the bench last weekend. Adebayor could now pick up some short-term Fantasy interest but it seems more likely that United’s pairing of Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez will see a greater proportion of Tevez funds come their way. Hernandez’ run in the United lineup could well come to an end with Wayne Rooney’s expected return in a fortnight, which may coincide with a return to fitness for Tevez.

The other option than Tevez owners will now be considering is a move towards a cheaper alternative up front which would free up cash to recruit Cesc Fabregas in time for Arsenal’s Emirates clash with West Ham. We can certainly expect to see some major movement in the Fantasy markets in the next 48 hours and I suspect we will see points being spent by those who have already fluttered their Fantasy Premier League wildcards.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Was leaning that way, thanks. Only concern is also playing Adam and have foster in goal so could all go pear shaped. Was going to play Krul in goal but he seems to be leaking goals atthe mo.

oh crap you have just saw that, for so few transfers? holy moly you've taken a lot of hits buddy. i'd say you need to get rid of berba, malouda, dempsey and get in fabs and see your budget from there for the other two slots. what have you done already?

malouda to fabs and downgrade berba. keep adam he's great value and is at home. keep tevez if you bought him much lower, he'll be back in next weekend and you'll have to waste another transfer trying to fit him back in.

Fecking Tevez, dumped Malouda to get in Fab to avoid a stupid price rise that just didnt happen. Already took a 4 point hit.

Tevez to who? Already have Caroll and Drog or jusy play Enrique/Yaya. Tevez a loy of money to sit on the bench for two weeks.

    Chamakh or Berb maybe?

play enrique this week, your unlikely to be able to bring someone in that you'll be confident will score 4 points more than him.

Then transfer tevez next gw, when you should have better news about when he'll be back.

    hi

looking for a budget striker for coming weeks.. who to bet on?

    - carroll >> 3 home games in next 4 [SUN,ars,BLA,FUL]
    - elmander >> 2 home games and good form but [LIV,TOT,ev,ww]
    - varney >> 2 home games and good form too [WBA,EVE,av,wh]

base on fixture, i'm quite preferred Carroll. any risk about his off-field issues?

if you don't have adam i'd go for varney, i can see him scoring w/those stretch of fixtures more likely than carroll's and blackpool constantly attack. plus, not many have him as opposed to carroll and you might make out nicely w/the gamble. just a thought...

i don't have Adam in my team and Varney's chance against WBA and EVE at home is also tempted.

but, would it also depend on Adam's condition for this week? i heard that he is still doubt.

i'm not so pleased with Fulham attacking stats - 1 goal per game in the last 3 league games.

Dembele did well in GW 3-4 against Blackpool and Wolves. i'm not sure how could he do against better defence of Wigan and Villa.

So, imo, i took him out of the choices.

problem is as much as i hate to say it being a united supporter, our defense isn't as solid as it once was at the moment and tevez always seems to score against us and really get up for that match- even if they always seem to lose/draw 😉

Yeah, that's what I'm planning (for now anyway). Only curious about very positive news "Tevez winning battle to be fit for wolves" on Monday to be totally reverse now 2 days later with an immediate trip home. Sometimes it seems the injury news it pretty cooked up as we saw with Rooney and others. Not that he isn't injured, just that the extent of injuries seems off so often.

yes, fabs is more important to arsenal than malouda to chelski and so is bale to spurs, plus you already have drogs- if you didn't i'd say keep malouda. w/out both drogs and tevez playing at the same time for you though, i think you'll need a stronger mf to carry you.

He's their best player so surely they can't drop him, but it's hardly the best circumstances to be playing top flight football.

Is this worth an 8 point hit and who should be Tevez's replacement?
    a) Malouda+Parker+Tevez ----> Fabregas+Arteta+8.8 Striker
    or
    b) Malouda+Bale+Tevez ----> Fabregas+Arteta+10.1 Striker

Bcuuuuus, I used 3 to get in tevez and had to do it cus I had the exact cash! Now iv shipped out tevez and used the oppurtunity to upgrade gohouri to bosingwa. And now I'm leaving it for 2 weeks, even if fabregas dies.

I was glad planning ahead my Gerrard to Fabs move and now I'm kinda annoyed by Tevez. It basically kills my possible asset as I will take a hit in the end.
However, is my replacement gonna score more than 4pts+Barton (1st sub)?

Then, who to go for? It should be an ARS prospect but will Chamakh keep his spot (I do think so, at least until RVP comes back to the equation but Arsene likes Bendtner)?
If not, I'm not interested in Berbatov and think the only other option will be a City player - Ade (that scares me, very overrated IMO but can bang points) or Balotelli (just played his 1st mins & new to the PL - but class player)?

What's the general thought on trading out Tevez?

    Here's my team

    Foster/Robinson
    O'Shea/Richards/Samba/Jara/Elmo
    Nani/Malouda/Etherington/Adam/Nasri
    Drogba/Tevez/Carroll

Some transfers im considering to accommodate Fabs

    Richards to Jagielka
    Ethers to Fabs
    Tevez to Odemwingie

    OR

    Richards to Coleman
    Tevez to Elmander
    Same Fabs transfer

So basically it's Odem+Jags or Coleman+Elmander. I would rate Elmander higher than Odem, so would do B. But then Coleman might not start if Arteta comes back, so A is the safer option.

Yeah thats what im thinking too.. Plus Jagielka is a long term option and Odemwingie is short term. I'll play around with it as things go on to strengthen my forwards again.. But i sure like the midfield that i'll have for the next couple of weeks.. Thanx mate

    My team for the GW:

    Hart (Foster)
    Konchesky | Alcaraz | Elmo
    VdV | Fabregas (c) | Malouda | Nani
    Drogba | Carroll | Dembele
    Sub: Barton | O'Shea | Jones

How does that look, correct sub choices?

Given today's news there is no doubt that I am getting rid of Tevez, the big teams fixtures are too strong over the 2 gw's to leave 11m sitting on the bench.

    My decision is: Tevez & A.Johnson(4pt hit)for

    A. Nani & Chamakh/Bendtner
    B. Fabregas & 5.6m Forward

What are the chances of Ars playing with 2 strikers the next 2 home games?

    Krul (Foster)
    Samba Toure Elmo (Jara, Faye)
    Nani VdV Dempsey Malouda (Vaughan)
    Tevez Drogba Carroll

What do you think is the best option?

    A. Tevez, Dempsey > Elmander, Fabregas
    B. Tevez, Vaughan > Chamakh, Nasri
    C. Tevez, Malouda > Chamakh, Fabregas
    D. Tevez, Vaughan > Varney, Fabregas
    E. None of those
