The captain’s poll this week is fairly indicative of one key decision that needs making ahead of Gameweek 10, and something which we will be covering in more detail as the day rolls on. Let’s take a quick wander through how it is shaping up so far…

Cesc Fabregas
Arsenal Captain. Penalty taker (we think). Bonus Point Hogger. Nobel Prize Winner. He’s just about got it all, and he’s also got a march on all the competition at the forefront of captain’s poll this week with 59% of votes so far. All of the aforementioned, tied in with a home fixtures against West Ham (bottom of the table and having just played 120 minutes of Carling Cup action), are all simple indications as to why Cesc is ahead, and well ahead at that; he’s a fantasy thoroughbred. For the views of a select bunch of Scouts on the Spaniard, keep your eyes peeled on the site a little later today.

Samir Nasri
Arsenal midfielder. Back-up penalty taker (we think). Recent friend of the Bonus point judges. Fifth grade spelling competition winner. He’s beginning to live up to his “new Zidane” billing, and for those Fantasy Managers seemingly shy of the money, is representing the next best option in the captains trail ahead of the Gameweek. The Frenchman’s selection as “the next best option” makes it clear that Arsenal are the forefront of most people looking to captain this week with his 15% (along with Chamakh and Nasri too) meaning the team as a whole claim 77% approval.

The rest…
There’s not much meat left on the bone after the Arsenal contingent are taken out of the equation, but a handful of Fantasy Managers do seem set on looking beyond The Emirates. A paltry 7% of managers will be hoping that Didier Drogba bounces back from his irregular 2 point captain’s debacle last week; he faces Blackburn who have a tough home defence boosted by the return of Samba and Nelsen, but you can never bet against the Ivorian. Despite facing his old club, Dimitar Berbatov has only managed to sneak 1% of the vote while team-mate Nani has 2% ahead of the game versus Spurs. It’s slim pickings out there.

Which Arsenal player are you backing then? Are you one of the select few not putting your faith in The Gunners? If you’ve yet to vote head back to the frontpage and do so, whilst remembering to back here and join the impending discussion on those choices made.

    A) Leave Tevez in, play Konchesky (no points hit)
    B) Bring Chamakh or Hernandez in for -4points this week and then use another 4 points getting him back in a week or two?

Leaning towards B, as new forward will have to get over 12 points in next 2 weeks to make it worthwhile

Odds of Chamakh scoring are higher than Konchesky keeping a clean sheet...

Depends on price you acquired Tevez. If you are selling and will have to buy back for 0.2M or 0.3M more in just a week or two, doesn't make much sense.

If it's just 0.1M or so, then the risk is easier to take.

Another factor that comes in - is transfers for the rest of your team - taking Tevez out and putting him back in takes away 2 transfers which you could make to improve other aspects of your squad.

that's my thinking exactly. i bought him for 10.5 so can sell him for 10.7m today. Not sure he's going to drop enough to get him straight back.

Tevez will tonight. That means that all of Saturday morning's transfers will count towards another fall. There'll be another big exodus on Monday mornig, giving a second fall. His threshold will then double, and people will keep transferign out, especially if he doesn't play against Brom, which leads me to predict a third fall next saturday night.

So I think he drops at least 0.2, probably 0.3.

I think you're underestimating the impact of the "lost transfers" for the rest of today. He's essentially at the 100% needed to drop now, at 3 in the afternoon. If he continues at this pace, or even, the pace of NTOs quickens (as it always does, on a friday night) - he could be well on his way to 200% towards a drop. Obviously he'll still only drop the .1m, but I have to say the fact that SO many people have shipped him already makes me believe that the rate of NTO will slow.

40,000 ish already today NTO already, yet that only constitues 60% of the entire NTO needed to drop. So he might need about 80,000 odd transfers out from saturday morning to drop again. Given the sheer number of people who have shipped him today (and will continue to do so as friday rumbles on) I would be worried if there are still 80k people going to be getting him out on saturday/sunday/monday. If he misses the wolves game but there's a quick statement saying that he's back and fit and the yellow flag is removed, he MIGHT not drop a second time. I dunno, just food for thought.

guys not just scare-mongering but whilst looking at the arteta update saw this:

Also in contention is Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, the Russian who started at Tottenham last weekend after several matches as a substitute.

"I thought he had his best game at Tottenham last week, he did well," added Moyes. "He had lost a bit of confidence, probably because he wasn't being selected.

"We see him as a goalscorer and he has been much brighter in training this week.

"He will be beginning to feel better about himself and that is good because he was really important to us last year and came up with five or six very important goals which we may need again."

if arteta makes it coleman could easily be benched. neville rb, bily right wing?

Noble and Parker are strong in the middle. Unlikely arsene will leave just song to hold the midfield, Cesc and Nasri are too attacking. I reckon he'll play Song, Denilson, Cesc as the middle three, with Nasri and Arshavin on the wings, Chamakh up front. Bendtner and Walcott to come on for runs.

OK 2 trans made, unsure what to do with dembele though....

    Foster
    Bosingwa, Mummy, Coleman
Fabs (c), VdV, Arteta, nani, Adam
    Drog, Berbatov

    (Krul, Dembele, Simpson, Jara)

This currently doesnt look right! I am banking on arteta not being available so dembele comes in. Or just bench Arteta from the start due to the possibility of a late cameo?

    What dya think??

Can't decide who to replace Tevez.

I allready have Nani, so this covers a bit the ManU attack.
Do I still need Berbatov or Hernandez?
Or is it better to have a City player (Balotelli or Adebayor)?

If your budget's tight, i'd recommend hernandez, seeing as rooney will be out for longer and hernandez is very much on form.

    a) Bale > Nasri or
    b) Berb and Bale > Elmander and Fabs ??

    Team is linked.

    Need advice

    Harper Carson
    Konch Bosingwa Faye Kelly(ful) O’shea
    N’Zog Albrighton VDV Nasri Malouda
    Carroll Torres Drogba

I have 1.4 million in the bank.

Here are transfers im thinking of doing:
    1) Harper + Torres = Howard + Chemakh/Berb/Hernandez/Tevez
    2) Albrighton + Torres = Nani + Chemakh/ Hernandez
    3) Malouda + Torres = Fabregas + Tevez/Berbatov/Hernandez
    4) Albrighton + Torres = Fabregas + Dembele/ 5.6 mil forward
    5) Albrighton + Malouda + Torres = Fabregas + Arteta + Hernandez

    Or any other options?

    Cheers
