The captain’s poll this week is fairly indicative of one key decision that needs making ahead of Gameweek 10, and something which we will be covering in more detail as the day rolls on. Let’s take a quick wander through how it is shaping up so far…

Cesc Fabregas
Arsenal Captain. Penalty taker (we think). Bonus Point Hogger. Nobel Prize Winner. He’s just about got it all, and he’s also got a march on all the competition at the forefront of captain’s poll this week with 59% of votes so far. All of the aforementioned, tied in with a home fixtures against West Ham (bottom of the table and having just played 120 minutes of Carling Cup action), are all simple indications as to why Cesc is ahead, and well ahead at that; he’s a fantasy thoroughbred. For the views of a select bunch of Scouts on the Spaniard, keep your eyes peeled on the site a little later today.

Samir Nasri
Arsenal midfielder. Back-up penalty taker (we think). Recent friend of the Bonus point judges. Fifth grade spelling competition winner. He’s beginning to live up to his “new Zidane” billing, and for those Fantasy Managers seemingly shy of the money, is representing the next best option in the captains trail ahead of the Gameweek. The Frenchman’s selection as “the next best option” makes it clear that Arsenal are the forefront of most people looking to captain this week with his 15% (along with Chamakh and Nasri too) meaning the team as a whole claim 77% approval.

The rest…
There’s not much meat left on the bone after the Arsenal contingent are taken out of the equation, but a handful of Fantasy Managers do seem set on looking beyond The Emirates. A paltry 7% of managers will be hoping that Didier Drogba bounces back from his irregular 2 point captain’s debacle last week; he faces Blackburn who have a tough home defence boosted by the return of Samba and Nelsen, but you can never bet against the Ivorian. Despite facing his old club, Dimitar Berbatov has only managed to sneak 1% of the vote while team-mate Nani has 2% ahead of the game versus Spurs. It’s slim pickings out there.

Which Arsenal player are you backing then? Are you one of the select few not putting your faith in The Gunners? If you’ve yet to vote head back to the frontpage and do so, whilst remembering to back here and join the impending discussion on those choices made.

I have the exact same midfield and the exact same conundrum - Malouda most money to lose, Adam - always good to have a successful cheapie, Nasri - why get rid of an Arsenal player at them mo? - Van der Vaart - also a reasonable loss of money and he just seems like he'll do well. Van der Vaart?

Ive got a bad feeling about this ars whm game. All this hype, all these transfers, all the points hits. Could be a disaster like all the other weeks of disapointment. I was just thinking the exact same thing. I'll be honest, the thought of my rivals having three Arsenal players and them scoring well makes me feel ill but Arsenal have let me down at home once already this season, the fact it's a local derby and the Hammers are a wounded animal make me think it's not going to be easy as everyone thinks. I'm hoping just having Fabregas and not going Arsenal mad pays off for me. I'm hoping Fabregas steals Nasri's points and Chamakh is as shit as I think he is.

i don't think bosingwa will play. hell no imo, and to rub salt in it i think as a full back he's much more likely top come off the bench for 1 pt than a cb. the training footage was interesting as the only players i recognisd in bibs were terry, alex, bos, drogba and anelka. BUT mceachran was also wearing a bib (first start away to blackburn? seriously doubt it) and i am half sure van aarnholt was wearing the bib at lb too. logic would suggest ivanovic rb, only hopefull bosingwa owners seem to be suggesting otherwise

Unfortunately I think you're right, Ivanovich would be better suited to this match unless Ancellotti plans to set Chelsea up for the counter attack. I'll just cling to the hope that he was setting up his defense in training to get them used to each other once more. But it makes far more sense to send Bosingwa out against Moscow next week to sharpen him up since they've already qualified.

VDV will most definitely be up there.

As for the Nasri/ Fabregas combo, Nasri is more goal-intensive than Fab- I can see Fab assisting a fair few (if not all!) of Nasri's goals. They'll pretty much share the bonus points when Fabregas settles back in.

For the purposes of FPL yes...

but from the perspective of him mirroring anelkas right hand role on the left in a "championship manager type not a striker but "a forward" type situation .....

then...I stick by my original comment

            tough crowd....

    Hey Guys,

its wildcard week for me and this is the team i have made up, does anyone have any comments?

I did have tevez and nasari but with tevez's injury i have changed to Berba and Fabs.

    Foster (Krul)

    COleman, Elmo, Konchesky (Jara Simpson)

    Fabregas, Malouda, Nani, VdV (Ferguson)

    Berbatov, Drogba(C), Carroll

    Cheers for the advice folks!

Not bad. I'd consider playing Simpson ahead of Konch

I have two free transfers. Can't decide between these choices!

    (A)
    Out: Bale and Tevez
    In: Fabregas and Chamakh

    OR

    (B)
    Out: Etherington and Tevez
    In: Nasri and Chamakh

Hah! for all those who jumped the gun and offloaded Tevez, Mancini says he'll be ready for West Brom

And for all you hopeless United fans who've been cosying up to the idea of Sneijder possibly joining at some point:

the thing is that Tevez is going to drop tonight, his replacements (chamakh or Hernandez) have already increased by 0.1m and are likely to go up again (0.1 in real terms)

Value wise (even those like me who got him at 10.4m) stand to lose 0.1m or maybe break even.

In the meantime, there are no guarantees that he will be fit, ready and selected VS West Brom. If he is, West Brom away is hardly a walk in the park this season, this is followed by a tough contest VS Utd.

For me it was about value and fixtures, his replacements are likely to get 3 games to his 2 and against theoretically easier opposition.

Would have liked to have avoided the hits tho 🙂

    Robinson, Gomes
    Coleman, Shawcross, Cole, Samba, Toure
Nani, Malouda, vDV, Petrov, De Jong
    Bent, Tevez, Carroll

Sorry to post again guys. Should i use wildcard? Suggest a transfer for me or should i swap Petrov for Fabregas and Tevez for Varney for a 4 point hit?

Thinking about a cheap goalie to rotate well with Foster (after this GW). Don't you agree that Carson rotates well with him?

Also thinking about which defender to bench this week.

Got Faye, Dann, Williamson, Mummy and Hughes.

Thinking about benching Dann and Faye.

    U agree?

    Thanks.

      Alright guys,

Have I got these in the right order? Want Fabregas but want to keep Nasri so going to work on a way to upgrade N'Zog to Fabs in a few weeks while downgrading a Jaask, Jones & Carroll.

      Jaask

      Elmo, Coleman, Dann

Malouda, N'Zog, Nasri (c), Nani, VDV

      Drogba, Berba

      Subs: Foster, Carroll, Williamson, Jones
