A day later than promised (just double-checking there were no discrepancies with JohnSteed01’s GW9 score), the third round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, has been made. The 64 ties, that will be played over GW10, can be viewed right here, and for a brief round-up of some of the fixtures read on…

The first match-up out of the hat is arguably the headline act, as Don Corleone faces Anorak. Filling the undercard is Dbronaldo‘s game against atx1303 (who boasts an extremely impressive history), Daniel.mf Vs. Bigstevehoward, and a few others.

I had best mention bill badger‘s match-up against Bigmidders, after bill badger has seemingly accrued somewhat of a cult following on the site, and his followers will be eager to know of his opponent.

Last week’s top-scorer The Plutocrat has a very winnable tie against guillermo, who currently sits 168,115th in the world. The first round top-scorer beeduybe is still in the competition and takes on a confident gooner dave, after his win over jms in round two.

Our former-champion watch, which has halved in size since last week, sees FFS Cup I champ donnellyc take on kings of kafirstan.

Another dwindling feature of this round-up, is the look at the fortunes of the site contributors. The sole representative, Granville, has been drawn against dinglea.

Good luck to all the 128 fantasy managers battling it out this weekend in the third round, and I’ll bring you the results on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Don Corleone v Anorak? The Godfather and his mafiaso will surely do the business there.

I prefer Krul over Foster. Wasn't there that stat going around that Newcastle have conceded the least shots on goal by any team?

He's also the home keeper. Play the home keeper every week and you'll score better overall. It's not like Newcastle are playing Chelsea or Man Utd either.

Sunderland also don't score many. They didn't score against us and we were playing with 10 men for the whole second half.

The rest of your team is fine.

          Good choices.

Defense is right. Coleman, Bosingwa, Elmohamady are who I'd play.

Oooh interesting fixture vs Keith. Who do you think will out of him and me?

    My team: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=14

Already traded out Gerrard -> Brunt and will do Yaya -> Fab before deadline.

    His team: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/M/entryhist.mc?id=2388

Jeez, Dirty_Harry last week, Don Corleone this week, it's like Madame Tussards with these cup ties.
Mildly confident of avoiding the fishy snooze though. I've got the tiebreak sewn up and a 4 point headstart. Presuming the Don has hit for Fabs+1 then with similar teams it may come down to something silly like Coleman vs Brunt.
    Squeaky bums already.

His fixtures are fair I'd say, TOT, mcy, avl in the next 4 don't look too great with Nani stealing more of the points recently for Man U. After that the fixtures improve but I think many will switch to Tevez after the derby as I can see Berbatov not doing much these next few weeks.

    My team for the GW:

    Hart (Foster)
    Konchesky | Elmo | Alcaraz
    VdV | Fabregas (c) | Malouda | Nani
    Drogba | Carroll | Dembele
    Sub: Barton | O'Shea | Jones

Pretty happy with it, but what do you guys think of the sub selection, not sure if O'Shea should be played but then again I'm not familiar with Spurs ability to score at Old Trafford

Yep - I might go with Foster in the end. Birmingham aren't normally very good away from home, but then again its a derby.

Wolves at home, improving and a city less Tevez might just swing it Hahnemann's way.

Anyone see Woy's comments about Kyrgiakos on the BBC Gossip Column this am? Does this mean he is a guaranteed starter for the Pool now? At 5.1 he would be good value - one of the best goal scoring defenders out there... sure Lpool are crap but he would definetly be good value

    Morning,

    Foster (Robinson)
    Konchesky,Mummy,Enrique,(Berra,Faye)
    VDV,Nani,Malouda,Adam,(Cleverly)
    Drog,Carroll,Tevez

4.9m in bank and been there for a while. Was always plannin to bring in fab for VDV, but form and the fact his price has risen considerably since i got him makes me reluctant to dith VDV now...

    Any advice please? Thanks

Same quandary for me. Also have 4.9m banked. Obvious move is malouda to fabs but I'd lose less on a vdv to fabs trade. However, vdv's fixtures look better than Chelsea's and malouda/fabs can be swapped back more easily

Hey folks here's what im thinking. Tevez to Odemwingie and Ethers to Fabregas... One reason I wanna bring Odemwingie in even though he probly wont play is this allows me to play a 3-5-2.. already transferred Jags in for Richards and have one more free so it would be a 4pt hit, think its silly? Team will be:

    Foster
    Jagielka/Samba/Elmo
    Nani/Malouda/Fabregas/Nasri
    Drogba/Carroll

    Robinson SUBS O'Shea/Odemwingie/Jara

Ok, Adam is the missing mid.

Like I said, you have Nasri so Arsenal should be covered. I'd either leave as is as you already have enough to play 3-5-2 and most of those have decent game this week.

If you have enough in the bank to upgrade Etherington to Essien then I'd do that as I think he's a good differential to Malouda and will probaly do well this week.

But personally, if I had your defence I would leave your team as is, or I'd take a 2 week punt on Hernandez and play 4 mids, dropping Etherington to the bench.

Silly idea in my opinion. You already have Nasri so you have sufficient Arsenal coverage this week. You also only named 10 starters so we don't know who your 5th MF is.

maybe but Fabregas is one of those players whose absence makes people nervous. I am in teh same boat - trying to decide how to get Fab in as I know my rivals will have him and skipper him - so currently got a headache over the following possibles-

        A. Eth and Tevez – Fab and Varney – lose 1, gain 1 quality player
        B. Malouda and Eth to Fab and Albrighton - lose 1, gain 1 quality player
        C. Malouda and Tevez to Fab and Chamak - lose two quality players, gain 1 and a half quality players.
        D. Malouda and Tevez to Fab and Harnandez – lose two quality players, gain 1 and 1 short termer- plus funds to sort out my awful defence.

        Help please!

sweating on Alex news now. Knowing my luck he will be out again, leaving me to try and earn defensive points from a combination of Williamson, Konchesky, Elmo and Foley.

Almost seems worth an 8 point hit just to get rid of one of those defenders. Coleman for Konchesky or Foley probably.

Half of me says delay getting Fabs and get Nasri so that I can try and improve my defence.

Am I the only person in this world that is seriously worried that Coleman will get benched this week? I see it as a straight choice between him or Bily and Coleman looked lost last week at White Hart Lane. Arteta will come back in for someone so Moyes may look to reshuffle. It is not impossible he will want to play Louis Haha and Yak either, although 2 strikers is rare admittedly. I do feel Coleman will probably start as he has been good overall but surely there is a significant risk.

        Thoughts chaps?

                    a) Not sure what relevance it has now
                    b) He was always going to play 2nd fiddle to Roon/Berb for a while.
                    c) That's it.

Of course it's relevant. If he was injured it would suggest that he's played 100% of games that he's been fit - that would be a vital stat.

You have a point but Hernandez will still be 3rd choice when Roon is fit regardless. Clearly, he is making a big impression though and will be seeing a lot of gametime.

He is guaranteed the next few games at least.

My view is you really have to play this game in the short term and make hay as the sun shines. If Rooney comes straight back in for the derby it's no big deal, swap him out.Anyway I can see Rooney starting on the bench for that game if Chico has made further impressions.

He said it was the reason he didn't make a huge effort to sign another goalie in the summer. Fabianski is there to stay I reckon and at 4.8m is the cheapest top 4 defender/goalie. Arsenal aren't going to go clean sheet crazy but there is a good chance for the next 2.

I reckon he is there for a while now. I am sure Wenger was looking for any excuse to get rid of Almunia and he actually has a valid one now.

Manuel doesn't seem to fussed about football now anyway.
